Small spoiler alert for those who don't want to know the end of the series...FYI.

Love the purple hue.
That's all I'll say without ruining it for anyone who does not know how this story pans out.

Good stuff. I dig the fact that the swirly line on Megs chest is present!

It's not really a spoiler, especially if you read "War Within #1."

Don't even have to read "The War Within" to know what's coming.

Is that Black Zarak in the foreground? I haven't picked up the series (waiting for TPB), is that character is the series?

Also are they officially connecting War Within to IDW?

Very cool. I like the G1 design on his chest. I can't wait to see this one. Milne's Starscream art on his page is probably the best version I have ever seen. Looks very much like Masterpiece in anime colors. Sweet!

Not really. Has IDW made any claims that War Within flows into their continuity?

It was a pretty safe assumption to make, though. For Megatron to become THE big, evil badass he has to kill the big, good badass.

Nope it's not Black Zarak it's (potential spoiler) Sentinel Prime.

War Within can't fit into the IDW G1 continuity because Optimus has the Matrix in WW and doesn't in IDW. Where the Matrix ended up should be hinted at in the Prime Spotlight and play out more fully in Revelation.

If I remember right, Optimus had just recieved the Matrix in War Within. Besides, it's unlikely WWi plays a part in the IDW universe, simply because that material is copyrighted by another (albeit defunct) company.

It was a pretty safe assumption to make, though. For Megatron to become THE big, evil badass he has to kill the big, good badass.

I see it more in line with the idea that for Optimus to be in command in the (chronologically) later series, Sentinel has to go. In some ways, this series also explains how Optimus rose to power in the Autobot ranks, though it doesn't look like he's gonna show up in this series (unless there's an epilogue in the last issue.)

Not legally it may not. But Sentunel Prime/WWI/Prime inheiriting the Matrix is a decently large contiuity. And certainly in the step of Megatron. And IDW appears to want to use as many of the loose strings we already have as possible

Didn't Megs kill Sentinel Prime in the Marvel G1 series as well? I seem to remember something like that being given in the story of how Optimus became leader. I may be imagining it all though.

Dreamwave's "The War Within" volume #1 started with Megatron having just killed Sentinel Prime.

basically Sentinel Prime=Fusion-Cannon-Fodder.

everyone needs a purpose in life.
