OMG!

I absolutely love 'NOva Prime's' design. He is officially one of my favorite TFs, and my favorite Prime. Don totally out did himself there. I want that as a toy soooo badly....

So Monstructor, Omega Supreme, Jhiaxus creates combiners, and was part of the original ARK crew...

I mean c-r-a-p!!!! We just learned a hell of a lot and I am so just drooling for more!!!

My Comic store will (hopefully, and they better) have it on shelves tomorrow (Friday) so I'll nab it then. If not it's going to be one long weekend for me.

Does it seem to tie in well to what has come before it, or does it kind of skip stuff (like the Galvatron Spotlight) and open up a can of wow-ness on all new facts of history?

I agree, it's on par with Megatron Origins. I loved all the action, the art, the dialogue...

And I frickin' really, really, really, need a toy of Nova Prime. The gallery of him was so cool, showing all the different modes, including a base--yeah!!!! [/wipes drool off floor]

Great. Y'see, it's comments like that which make me regret my stance on not getting this series, at least not till it comes out in TPB form. If only I didn't have to worry about She-Ra Season 2...or HIMYM Season 2...or the Beast Wars comics...or the Transformers score...

Ah, well, as I said, there's always the TPB. And my new job. And I'll bet it comes out 'round Christmas, the time when I won't have any financial woes.

Bought it. Read it. Found it quite underwhelming. For a spotlight focused on Optimus, they did very little characterization. The final action scene could have been done a lot better. While I do like the whole mess of potential material that they lay out here, I can't help but feel that they needed a bigger reveal than, "The guys I thought were heroes are just as bad as the bad guys." I thought Furman would have tried something a little more interesting for his new take on the main character of the the Transformers mythos. But I am glad he wasn't wallowing in self pity every panel like he did back in the marvel days. It was an okay read, not great, not terrible, but could use some work.

Don't fret too much DB, the Megatron Origin series is going to be one of those series that is far far better in TPB form, just something about having it all in the one book I guess.

Glad there isn't anything too spoilery in this thread just yet, or I'd have to stop reading!

I really loved it!

Some great tie-ins with Galavtron & Nightbeats spotlights, and Escalation!

I really liked it how that even prime can be emotional broken, and that he needs to go see someone to counsel him.

(SPOILER TIME)

Also we have been introduced to the first gestalt! Monstructor. And how prime takes it down, and then trys to help the bots that make him up.

I find it interesting how the decepticons don't know about the gestalt technology, and how Omega Supreme warns prime how they cant find out. Definatly going to be something in devasation to do with that. For sure!

Overall great comic, and as others have said, the best so far. Fig and Furman have done it again!

*sighs*
Great, Don draws another character (Nova Prime) that looks soo bad ass that I know we'll never get to see a toy of.

Don, if you're reading this, has Hasbro approached you to do a whole line? Cause seriously, I'd most likely buy every fraggin one.

Overall, a pretty good read. Definitely like how this gives insight as to whom was on the first Ark, Gestalt technology, and surprise surprise, Jhiaxus get mentioned. Did not expect that at all. Kudos to everyone involved. And that color person, that does the pretty stuff so it's not black and white. Whut's his name? :APPLAUSE:

Good job!!! Quite well done overall... Love the book.

I have to agree though, I would love to see a Don toy line...when does he get the clout to make HASBRO want to do this? Things seem to be going very well for the whole franchise, getting the comics more support would be a good idea, especially for the years between movies!!!

Why do I like Nova Prime so much? I'm not sure, but he is just kick@$$! Reminds me of Sixshot, mixed with BW Tigerhawk. Many modes, both animal and beast like. Muy Beuno!!!

SPOILERS

I have a theory...JUST A THEORY...I think Nova Prime is still alive...As SIXSHOT...
1.he looks VERY similar (obvious giant truck legs, wings {on his arms instead of his back, a similar head)
2. We know from interviews that Spotlight OP will have an impact on Devastation...as will Sixshot....

the last thing I need is someone bitching at me for not posting "spoiler warning". Or the usual..."How do you KNOW what's going on?" crap. Cause I obviously don't...

IDW is doing a fantastic job of creating an original and interesting new storyline for all TFs. I love that Combiners and Pretenders are portrayed as new, shocking, and unpredictable technology! This issue really outdid itself as far as the Spotlight series has been concerned. I gotta say, you just can't lose with Don Figueroa's art. He IS the Transformers to me now (sorry, Andy). I read that some poeple are waiting on buying this book. I for one can't imagine trying to take in the rest of the overall story without these insightful one-shots. This was really good.

I'm wondering now too if Nova Prime is the being that Galvatron says he serves...

Something else I wondered too, regarding the Matrix--Galvatron mentions, in his spotlight, that Prime (Nova Prime, I assume) carried a matrix, and that he (Galvy) serves the one that wields the darkness. If Nova was part of the Ark-1 crew, did he have the Matrix with him? If so, was the Matrix corrupted by the Dead Universe?

Don, Josh, Simon, IDW crew as a whole--EXCELLENT storytelling. Many thanks to you all--this is the most I've enjoyed reading TF since I was a kid with my old Marvel books.

I had to go to the comic book store three times before I was finally able to get it. I admit, I would've liked more emphasis on Prime, but it was an entertaining story nonetheless, and the art and colors were great. Good job!

Oh, come on. You know they only do that when it comes to important stuff. :P

Doctor Reggae wrote:I'm wondering now too if Nova Prime is the being that Galvatron says he serves...

Yeah, that's most likely it, given that there's currently a "Unicron Embargo" as far as the G1 books go.

I wouldn't be surprised if that was the twist of the story. And if it is, I'll be willing to forgive Furman for making "The Ascending" nothing more than a bunch of fanwank.
