I just watched most of the Unicron Trilogy cartoons on YouTube. Cybertron and Ebergon ae pretty ok, but my god, Armada just plain SUCKS. It is so freaking horrible. The dub is bad, the pots suck, and most of all THE GODDAMN KIDS. There are only 2 OK episodes: Past and Mortal Combat.
I'm sorry if this isn't allowed, but I just had to get thi out.

Ugh. That whole trilogy left a bad taste in my mouth, especially after the excellent Beast Wars and Beast Machines (the latter might've been weird, but it did have excellent writing)

Ya rly. I love the toy mini cons, but the cartoon ones were irritating.
RID, I actually like.
Then, the WORST kids were Billy ans Fred. Maybe if they weren't in the show, it wouldn't have sucked...as much.

No it would have. There would still be beeping minicons, drivel for plots, and weak @$$ all-aroundness.

Take away the first 40 or so episodes with their focus on "gotta catch them all" and Armada is not all that bad, the final 10 episodes are some of the better Transformers episodes that you can watch. It's really the first time that we a re given the sense that there are hundreds of thousands of combatants in the Cybertron War, not just two small teams of a dozen or so warriors on each side.

The last six or so episodes of Armada are actually, dare I say it, good! You should watch those, and it has a lot of G1 character cameos too(in different colors, but still).
In my opinion though, Energon was the worse show dub wise, but that's cause most of the voices and dialogue were bad, worse than Armada in that respect. But it had more enjoyable plots and action, so they're kinda even. Cybertron was by far the best to me, and it didn't hurt that the voices were actually well acted.

Nah, I like Energon, cause there was only 1 kid they really focused on. And, really, I don't mind him that much. Fred is so stupid, offering robots chips. I mean, WTF? They always stereotyped him as being overweight. then, there's Carlos, the incredibly annoying one. Billy was just plain gay. Alexis and Rad...well I suppose they aren't as bad. Then there is the "kids huide super intelligent robots" to victory, wnd they are the ones that described the obvious info to plain stupid or reatarded viewers.

Cybertron was good because you had intelligent kids, a talking minicon, a diverse range of characters, good dubbing and a good (Albeit severely altered) plot. It was a good show, and I don't understand the reason people dont' like it (Apart from the accents, and it's rather tragic if that's your reason for hating it.)

I haven't yet had the liberty to watch any of the Unicron Trilogy stuff. Why do they call it the Unicron Trilogy? Do all three of the series have to do with fighting against Unicron? I'll be honest, I really disliked RID as a cartoon. (loved the toys but hated the cartoon) it was far too childish. If I was 8 years old I might have enjoyed RID but as an adult it sucked. Will I feel that same way about the Unicron Trilogy? Or is it better adapted so adults can enjoy it also?

Granted, the cartoons sucked.
Can't hate on the toys though. Some really stellar molds came from that trilogy, and they made it all worth it.

Armada and Cybertron (havn't seen Energon not relised in Germany, just like the toys) it's really a hit and miss with the plots, it's like 1 realy good ep, brings you 6 realy bad eps.
Most of the stories seem like stuff from Disny kid shows (just without the quality).
I mean they let Prime Suck out all the water from a big underwater lake ou and then let him burp! (Cybertron)

I actually liked Armada. Probably because of Blurr..
Energon and Cybertron are horrible! Worst shows ever!

I think RID was only as childish as G1 and the other toons. At least there was only 1 kid (whom I liked). I REALLY think they should have continued RID instead of creating the Unicron Trilogy. I still question why after the ultra masterpiece highly posable figures of RID did they go back to G1 and create block toys for Armada.

That's an interesting point, and one I hadn't considered before. Compared to most of the RID toys, Armada toys did seem a bit "kiddie." Blocky, bright colours and those stupid bloody minicons

. I wonder if I'd have liked Armada more if RID had never happened?

As someone pointed out Armada's later half isn't as bad as the former. Some of the characters in it were actually rather compelling. Thrust, not only makeing deals with Sideways, but also getting crushed in one of Unicron's gears. Jetfire with his bragging -something we haven't seen in a while with Autobots, since most have been shown to be pretty humble (None of the Beast Wars cast or RID were really braggers, though Ultra Magnus was an emo at times in RID) and of course Starscream. I mean this is the first time we've seen a "Noble" decepticon, and seen a very different side of him verse the schemer they had in Energon and Cybertron.
Regarding Cybertron, yes the acting was decent, but Hasbro and Takara should maybe have considered the fact that well, Gonzo likes a lot of creative control over the shows that they do. The Dub had to totally alter the plot just so it would fit into the whole Trilogy idea. Cybertron in Japan was a totally different show. So it became the Unicron Duology. On another note, the animation of the robots, while great, was not combided with the CGI and didn't fit in at all. And I know for fact Gonzo can do a heck of a lot better then what they did on that show. (See the anime Last Exile for proof of this.)
Kicker in Energon seemed more your typical whiney wannabe from Eva to me. So I would have rather had the more optimistic Rad then this kid.

Well besides the anoying kids, the shows were ok. I just didn't think the evil was evil enough for the bad guys and not enough robot drama or action.

I never knew there was so much hate for Mini Cons. I personally love the little guys (not in the cartoon). The one thing that kinda got to me was Megatron TEAMING UP with Prime. WTF? He didn't even double cross him, than killed himself for Prime to be safe. G1 Megatron would slap the sh!t out of him for that!

It may seems like a joke but I truely believe that one could make 3 great (well maybe just good) movies out of these series. There's good stuff in there... really? Why are you all looking at me like that?
Seriously the toys minicons anoy me as much as their anime counterparts. The little things are weak. I have kids. Real kids. And after just a few days, most of the minicon I gave them were in pieces. And it's about as bad with the legend toys. I don't say that often but it realy was much better in the old days. Even the smaller toys were sturdy. RID spychangers were good too. I'd love them to be repainted.

Megatron did team up with Prime for some episodes. In the aftermath of the whole Ultimate doom Prime and Megs worked together to well basically blast a device Starscream was going to use to destroy the world. Later they worked together to deal with the Insecticons, Prime actually saved Megatron in that one. With the Combatacons they had to team up there, and much later Galvatron worked with Prime. In the comics they teamed up as well. Yes Galvatron did betray Prime, but Megatron oddly enough didn't. Partly because he knew that they had a bigger fish to fry, partly becuase Megs wasn't crazy like Gavaltron. So no I don't think that he would have slapped the heck out of Megatron from Armada, I think he would have been glad that the planet was safe, though he would probably be annoyed that Megatron died rather then Prime.
