My question is since the Ark-1 crew members serve a dark being, are they dead as in lost their free will (except Galvatron) and are cold and heartless, or are they more of an undead robot?

Galvatron demonstrates some aspects of free will in his spotlight, it's really unclear though. I'm sure we'll find out.

I don't know if I would call them alive, but by all definitions of the word, they are certainly not dead.

Can't remember who, but someone came up with a decent theory about how the Ark-1 crew may be sustained and kept alive by the power of the Matrix Nova Prime was carrying on his person.

Well, we can be sure they're not, 'not dead'. Galvatron confirms that one in the writing. But the opposite of A is not always B.

When one of the characters says "He's not dead!", Galvatron's narration states "Wrong."

I think that Galvatron is undead.

I'm also of the mind that Galvatron is undead. I suspect that this may be true of all the Ark-1 crew, although it seems that some of Galvatron's mind has remained.

I bet all the original Ark-1 TFs are zombots.
Or more like undying bots, and I think Galvatron just seems more free willed because he actually wanted to go into the hole/space-time-tear/warp point whatever the anomaly was. That or Galvatron had too many wires crossed in his processors anyway...you can't lose your mind when you don't have one!

Now what do zombots moan for when they "shamble" around? Processors? Mother Boards?
