Transformers movie the orginal.....and other questions

Hey all. I'm an old G1 fan who's back in transformers. I never really figured out who fought in Autobot city in the movie on the autobot's side. Decepticons is pretty much everyone from season 1 - 2, right? (not including the stunticons and the combaticons or course)

Which autobots fought in autocity?

To rap it up, How powerful is Omega Supreme?

Autobots that fought in the Autobot City battle:

Ultra Magnus
Springer
Arcee
Blurr
Hot Rod
Kup
Perceptor
Blaster
Wheeljack
Windcharger

various other animation errors, which makes it difficult to tell if a certain character was really there, or not. Such as Huffer, Bluestreak, Grapple.

In addition to that, there are certain storyboards out there, which indicates other deleted scenes or scenes that were never animated. Such as Red Alert, Sideswipe and Tracks attacking Devastator at one point in the battle (and Devestator subsequently killing Red Alert)

Arriving as reinforcements the following day were Optimus Prime, Sunstreaker, Hound, and the Dinobots.

As far as I can tell (and judging from the various continuties), Omega Supreme is probably as powerful or slightly more powerful than any of the combiners/gestalts. And perhaps a notch less powerful than Metroplex and Trypticon. Not sure how Scorponok and Fortress Maximus are to be classified, as they are portrayed VERY differently in the various continuties.

Thanks man! have you read the comic book version of the 1985 transformers movie? I heard that there were additional scenes that never made it to the screen. And my local chapters store doesn't sell it.

You can buy the DVD at your local Target store. It has some of the deleted scenes and story boards. Plus there are supposedly other scenes that never made the movie, as they had to cut them to make the movie rated PG (like the 'death' of Ultra Magnus).

And yes, I have read the original Marvel series comic book version. Its basically a condensed version of the movie that came out. I haven't read the updated IDW Animated Movie version.

Hound was already on Earth, as well as arriving as part of the backup with Prime

Was a shame that the majority of S2 Autobots were left out of the battle, I understand the gestalts being absent, but the smaller bots would have been nice.

Hound is debateable.

We never see him onboard the shuttle in flight, and he is standing on the ground, beside the hatch. This is somewhere a person would stand if they were meeting the shuttle. I think he just ran to meet Prime, let him know where Megatron was headed.

Sunstreaker on the other hand, is not debatable. He actually was in two places at once.

Hound,Bluestreek and Huffer are seen on earth on day 1 of the attack just before the Decepticon attack.....Kup was directing them moving some stuff around just before Hot Rod drives threw. With one is the animation error with Hound no one knows :-?

If I recall correctly Mirage is also in the battle but only in the storyboards.
I think Thrust shot a missile at him :???:
Haven't seen them in awhile so I'm not 100% sure.

Red Alert, Tracks, Sunstreaker, and Sideswipe were all also in the story boards.

Mirage died when Megatron blew up a bridge he was on.

You see. Hound is not necasarrily an animation mistake. He was never seen onboard. Sunstreaker is though as he is seen on the shuttle.

So could we assume that the deleted scenes are canon? I got confused by the debates.

I always assumed Hound met Prime when the shuttle landed and briefed him of the situation off-screen. Doesn't explain there being 2 Sunstreaker's though. Maybe he was supposed to be on Earth doing manual labour, paid a stunt double to do that for him and hung out on one of the Moonbases, til the $%^& hit the fan at Autobot City, and Prime grabbed him to pilot the shuttle?

Sunstreaker is SO above manual labor he had his stunt double working on the road block while he was hanging out with the Autobot leader.

Yeah, I know about the other movie adaptations. I was asking if you did read the IDW version, and yes, my question wasn't really clear on that.

Are the deleted scenes canon? I still have no idea. I mean, we kinda see Beachcomber (or not) die in Unicorn's stomach, but he came out fine in S3.

Considering that they're supposed to be leaders, they can't be much larger than gestalts. I mean, how can you lead TFs anywhere if you can't fit on starships, in cities, or anywhere accept a field or mountainside. I always like seeing them portayed as "average"-size, but then again, they DO change into bases...

There's an interesting picture about halfway down this thread that gives their scale (NOTE: I believe this is for the Headmasters cartoon). Whoever posted the image has chopped off the bottom, which also shows Chromedome and either Daniel or Spike.

Wow! That's an insane scale! If Fort Max was really that big he would have some serious issues with things like fluid pumps having trouble getting to his head. And where would he walk? If he was that big they may not need any other Autobots! I think I'll just tell myself Metroplex is still the biggest...

Neat pic though!

He looks a lot smaller in the actual cartoon. In the cartoon he could fight in a human city but at this scale I think he'd utterly devastate it.

Obviously that picture contradicts the TV show in the US with Spike being about 6 feet tall. In fact I think you could just take the toy and do the math, figure how big Spike is and then calculate the size of Fortress Maximus.

Yes, that's how I would have done it (although it doesn't factor in any mass shifting, which may be an element of his transformation).

Correct me if I'm wrong but in the Japanese cartoon we never saw Fortress' (the Cerebros section) head come off, did we?

EDIT: Let me rephrase; the head of the Cerebros section, not the Cerebros section itself.

No we never saw a head for Cerebros tat was separate that I remember in Headmasters. :-?
