Was anyone really surprised that the Beast Wars books are delayed again? I'm beginning to think that IDW just shouldn't go to the trouble to putting them out. It'd be easier to do that than to say they are, then delay them and shift the release date over the course of the next year like a hockey puck.

I am surprised about Devastation, though. Not that it would be delayed. That I pretty much expected. No, what I'm surprised about is the fact that it's getting released on the same day. I would have thought that they might try to get it out next week.

A two week delay for Devastation, and a week delay for Beast Wars...

I'd like to know why though, seeing as Ryall had released the last release date info only a fortnight ago.

Yeah, so? It's still getting delayed.

Truth be told, the Devastation delay isn't the thing that grinds my gears the most. I'm pissed about that, certainly, but at least it's still coming out at or on its intended target date.

The Beast Wars stuff, on the other hand... :?

The Beast Wars stuff is coming out near it's intended date... oh wait a second... it's 2007, not 2006!

At least we got some kind of news about the delays, IDW could have just sat there tight lipped and not released the revised dates.

I'm real glad to see my anger at the situation is so funny to you.

We haven't actually gotten anything from them about it. All we got was the list, with no explanation at the delay.

I'm annoyed at the delay, but seeing as there is zip-all i can do about it, I feel some fun needs to be had instead.

We got an updated list, not the release list stating that Devastation should be out yesterday/today (depending on location), and that is better than nothing.

I won't pretend to know much about the comic industry, but I do deal with event brochures and print media at work, and I know you always send it off to the printers at least a fortnight before you need it. Could this be a printing/distribution error, or do you think they found some errors that need a drastic overhaul?

Seems we can blame the Terrorists for the delays

Andrew Steven Harris, IDW Editor wrote:I can't speak to whether this is specifically the cause of the delay, because I haven't seen the list of books that were held up, but all publishers who print their books outside North America experienced a delay of some sort this month (and in fact many industries outside of publishing, as well); many international shipments were held in customs for two entire weeks without explanation, beginning Sept. 1, which we can presume is related to increased security measures in advance of the 9/11 anniversary. And then, about a week ago, most of the shipments were suddenly released, again without explanation.

Mind you, I'm hearing some of this second-hand, through the individuals at our company who are in charge of clearing the shipments through customs, but it looks to me like a pretty safe conclusion to draw that this was the culprit behind the delay. I imagine that Dev #1 will be in the comic stores shortly, once it works its way through the regular distribution channels.

On a more positive note, I also think that the issue is going to rock the house -- Simon & Co. really hit it out of the park with this one, and he doesn't even understand baseball. Wink

Has anyone else noticed that two Devastation and BW issues are coming out in one month, though?

Let's place our bets now for how long issue #2 of each will be set back.

Nah, we can blame BushCo. It's their fault everyone's got the terrorist ya-yas.
