Of the western versions, Cybertron. The original Japanese version of Energon, called Superlink, is quite good though I've only seen five or so episodes and I haven't seen Galaxy Force (the Japanese original of Cybertron) to compare.

They're both kinda stinkers if you ask me. At least the toys were pretty good.

it'd be nice if the guys who make the comics would get a shot at throwing down on a cartoon series once in a while. At least with Animated coming up, we have writers who are writing for the North American show, instead of guys who are clipping together a series from an already dubious Japanese incarnation.

Cybertron, by a country mile. Several country miles. Like, so many miles that Cybertron can't even SEE Energon from where its standing. Oh GOD, Cybertron. Sweet Jesus, I hate Energon.

If we are going by the American dubs, Energon was better.

i only have Cybertron here, and the story is pretty simple actually (though i only have watched like 15 eppys so far) and the humans are underdeveloped and sometimes annoying - plus i hate that every time they roll out, transform, use cbyerkey, etc. they have to do the whole animation again and some cheesy techno music - it gets tiring quickly, not to mention time-consuming.

but the CG-cel shading animation is topnotch, and i like the toys, so...

For the English Dub, it is Cybertron, but only because the English Dub of Superlink/Energon royally screwed up the story and characters. Cybertron was better dubbed, and closer to it's Japanese counterpart.

For the Subbed versions I personally prefer Superlink, it is quite the good series, Galaxy Force is excellent too, but I prefer Superlink just a little bit more.

Cybertron toys are superior though.

It's not unwatchable, but it is pretty ordinary in the dub. It isn't so bad if you accept that the dubbing is 3rd rate, and the reason why stuff does not make sense is because lines and informative parts were changed in the translation process.

The Superlink version is far better, but I know many people do not like having to "read" their tv shows, so if it's not for you, it's not for you.

Yes. Energon is the one Transformers series that I can genuinely say I hate above all others.

And let me be clear here when I say that - Energon is bad in *any* language. Yes, the dub makes it worse - constant name screw-ups and apalling lifeless, stilted scripts and acting make the English version even worse than Armada's. But while I hate this, it is only a small part of the hate. The show sets up things that it does nothing with, willfully neuters characters at pretty much the *instant* they start showing some sign of development or change (more than once by killing them, and then bringing them back to life and completely ignoring their past, perhaps with a terrible change to their personality in the process) and has *grotesque* stiff, inexpressive CGI that actually had to *switch* to cell animation to look impressive (think about THAT for a while). Energon peaked after eight episodes (I will happily say that I think the first eight are very, very good, right up to "Megatron Raid"), after which is begins a slow, steady nose-dive. It remains... watchable, at least, until episode 26, but then the show's third act is identical to the first, except with planets instead of cities, and don't even TALK to me about the totally unnecessary fourth quarter with the combiners and the EVIL GREEN ENERGON GAS.

God, I feel dirty just talking about it.
