Hey, sorry if this has been covered already. The search function is down and I looked at 5 pages of this forum and didn't see anything about it.
According to IDW's Beast Wars Sourcebook, Apache and B'Boom are two different characters. However, there is only one toy. Is this a mistake on IDW's part? The Alt modes in the comic look exactly the same, and their botmodes aren't much different. Just curious.

far from an expert on these matters, but one was a non-show character in the original BW series the other was a rereleased (don't know if any changes were made) version of the same toy for one of the Japanese exclusive BW series. B'Boom was the international one IIRC.

Yeah, most of us got B'Boom, and later on Japan had Apache. They're
almost exactly the same, but I think there are a few subtle differences (mostly in the paint apps); don't quote me on that, though (unless you really want to). They're definitely different characters, though.
I'm not sure what IDW are doing putting two so nearly identical characters in a strip together, but I'll wait see what happens before calling out the paddywagon.

IDW is including all the Beast Wars characters that were/were not use in all the Beast Wars cartoons. If you look in the Sourcebook, Bonecrusher and his beast Wars 2 repaint Bighorn also are in the book, and several Maximals that appear in the first book are insects besides Blackarachnia, who was the only Maximal bug in America, while in Japan, the figures were were reused to make the Maxis all animals and the Preds all vehicles in BW2 (aside from Galvatron, who led them). Apache was a reapaint of B'Boom used in Beast Wars 2 and he was a member of Lio Convoy's Pack. Both characters were both seen in the new Furman/Figureoa Beast Wars Ascension as two Separate characters, because the events of Beast Wars 2 and Beast Wars Neo apparently take place before both the Beast Wars toon and the comic series.

Its also not the first time that one toy was used as two or more different characters. The seeker toy mold was used to produce 3 character that were completely the same with out the paint app's.Sideswipe's,Jazz's and Prowels molds were yoused at least twice for different characters.Apache and B'Boom are different characters.

And of course the one that keeps happening with most series Optimus Prime into Ultra Magnus with the exceptions of RID and Titanium Magnus

They did it with the first Magnus in the Titanium line too.
