How come in the comics, decapitations or headshots means death?
Aren't sparks/laser cores in a transformers chest?I mean i'm only looking at Megatron Origins so I'm not sure if this is rule of thumb.

Dude, the head has the brain module. Once that's disconnected from the spark, Game over, man, game over.

Well, it could for maybe a short period of time.

Nah, I mean, like, the Spark is like a heart, and if the flow to your brain is severed, you're gone. Same with a Transformer.

I dont want to turn this into a large debate [good thing Tramp is gone] but decapatation does not mean that a bot will die. Marvel Dreamwave and IDW have all showen a bot loseing their heads an still living.

Marvel had almost all the season 1 and 2 Autobots and a few Decepticons lose their heads in a number of stories and all surived.

Dreamwave had a shot where Starscream is playing with Bumblebee head and he lived.

IDW's Devastation #2 showes Sunstreaker's head with out a body asking to be killed.

The spark is not a hart, it is like a soul (if you believe in souls), just as our Klingon said a lot of Tfs lost there heads without dieing, just look at Beast Wars, at a point almost every character lost his head once and they still lived.

Just that with Sunstreaker in Devastation  , damn you Klingon, damn you for that spoiler! :P

I dont think it should be death....

Fortress Maximus, Skorponok, Sideways(transformers armada both lose their heads and they dont die!
The junkions loose arms and legs
(at least i think so, one of them lost an arm during the movie so...)

:BLEND:

Uh, the obvious reason Scorponok, Fortress Maximus, and Sideways don't die is because their heads are BUILT to detach. You know, seeing how Scorponok and Maximus are Headmasters, and Sideways is a psuedo-Headmaster thing?

The thing about the IDW comics is interesting.

It would make more sense to me if the so called spark were to be located in the head with the brain. That way if the head gets removed it can be attached to a new body. Transformers should be compartmentalized enough that only the head is required to live.

A Transformer head should contain Soul/Spark, Brain, Speech Center, Optics, and an emergency life support power supply that preserves only the head.

The body should be able to be discarded, replaced and upgraded as with any other machine.

Hmmmm... :-? :-? That's a good point... My thing about sparks and brain modules is kinda useless when talking about the comic and cartoon, since there are no sparks until Beast Wars. Damn, I got nothin'. lol.

Well Heads are not needed for Transformers to survive, but still there are a lot of important circuits up there that if damaged can lead to death...

I guess it varies bot to bot, con to con as to what kind of head trauma will put them offline...

Well based on that, Ironhide and Ratchet should've been immortal. :P
