Why were the Rhino DVD Season 3-1, 3-2/4 such a big deal. I just acquired these guys today from eBay but it always seemed that they were the higher bidding seasons?

I got these at a decent price compared to what I've seen them go for, thank GD!

My only guess could be is that this was after the original cartoon movie and it explains a lot of the story behind Unicron and the rest of the Transformer legancy?!

So season 3 is on 2 sets? I didn't know Rhino split them up that much.

Man, I'm glad I bought the 15 disc Tin Set instead.

Yeah they split it up on the boxsets, is that the Tin Set that is sold on eBay, I thought that was a overseas version thats been a copy of the original.

I even heard that the Tin Set has english subtitles because it's in Japanese or something?!

The only thing in Chinese is the menu. Its pretty damned easy to figure out. Yes, there are chinese subtitles but they can be turned off like any other subtitle. The audio is in English or Chinese.

The Tin Set is far superior to the Rhino set in several ways:

1. The English audio is in 5.1 stereo(I believe the Rhino is 2.0 stereo).

2. Beautiful, bright remastered picture. There is a bonus disc that actually compares the picture from the Rhino set to the remastered picture from the Tin Set.

3. Its a HELL of a lot cheaper than the Rhino set, I paid $40 for mine shipped.

4. Region free

Oh ok, I'm pretty satified with the Rhino collection that I have, although they did cost me some $$$ I'm glad I have these originals.

I think the only thing I really didn't like is some animation problems they had with colors and voices on the wrong Transformer in certain episodes but it doesn't happen that often throughout the series.

I just remember many ppl sayn to watch out for the bootleg versions and that many were not happy with the menu?!

The color mistakes are still there on The Chinese set obviously.
The Chinese box is NOT a bootleg, its the 100% official release for China. The menu is in Chinese yes, but a chimp could figure it out, seriously. God Forbid! The menu isn't in English! GASP! :sarcasm:

Funny thing is everything on the bonus disc is in English and there is even a documentary for Botcon 2002? in ENGLISH. Go figure.

Rhino didnt produce as many of the season 3 DVD box sets like they did the other 2 seasons. That may be one reason for the higher demand on ebay.

But there are bootlegs of that set floating around, which is what Skiman was probably refering to.
