in the Optimus Prime spotlight he was able to beat Monstructor all by himself.....yet Monstructor can whoop the stuffings out of Omega Supreme......how is that possible?

Besides this being a comic book, and as such plot devices are much more important than actual physics, logic and such my guess would be that monstructor is supposed to be out of control. Since he is after Omega, optimus is only in the way and Monstructor is only trying to get through him not kill prime. And also Omega, who is connected to all kinds of equipment and has lost his gun, gave prime the secret kill move... so to speak. Main reason would be plot device. but if one wishes to strech their imagination, Monstructors personality combined with omega being the sole target, and prime being a hell of a lot smaller, more agile, and faster would probably be the case.

Well I just hope the Decepticons get that technology so that they can form Devastator.

As Calvatron stated already, Prime was given the only known weak-spot on Monstructor to target, and we already know he has a bloody powerful gun from the Stormbringer series.

The fact that Monstructor is very single minded and only wanted Omega gave Prime the opening to take his shot. Whether you take it as a plot point or not is up to you.

Omega was beaten so easily for 2 main reasons:
1: He was taken by surprise
2: The lack of true Energon (as the Cons said they had been living off a synthetic Energon for some time) would have weakened Omega as well, (as well as possibly age), and his need for huge amounts of power/energon to live were more than likely limited by him needing to remain hidden.

Just like Ramjet when he came to earth? Weaker amounts of Energon?

More or less. Other than the few characters that have used Ore 13, every other Transformer is using either a synthetic Energon Replacement, or a much weaker 'watered down' version of Energon (since the Synthetic is the only one mentioned, I'd stick with that).

If I remember I should go back and re-read the -tion series to see who mentioned the Synthetic Energon.

I'm fairly sure it was Starscream in one of his rants.

I believe Megatron mentioned something about living off synthetic substitutes when he was in the command bunker discussing how "evolution had a helping hand".

"artificial substitutes" was the wording. But that could also mean that he's referring to a non energon substance as well. like gasoline and ethanol are very different but can both be used in a combustion engine.

True enough.

It's because Optimus fell over and hit his head and the entire IDWverse is in fact just a halucination brought on by the head trauma. Since Op has an ego the size of Unicron he dreamed of being able to take down a gestalt single handed.

Or something like that.
