Spike is Tough

A new thoery I have. On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the highest, Spike has a toughness of 20.

The Autobots always take him into battle, but they never seem to worry about his well being. On some occasions Autobots jump on top of him to protect him from falling rocks/buildings/trees/miscellaneous debris. Judging from the way the Autobots come down on him, they aren't leaving him anyroom underneath. Spike also get dropped/thrown alot. I have never seen him get cut or break a limb.

So I conclude, he is the toughest character in the TF universe - but no one knows it because they assume humans are weak.

So he's a dweeb with the endurance and/or stamina of a cockroach!

if Spike is a 20 than Chip Chase is at least a 50.

Even though he is (questionably)wheelchair bound he has been shown doing some amazing things.

Such as withstanding cybertronian acid rain, which almost deactivated the autobots accompying him.

I still remember the episode where Spike decided to play football with the Autobots. Talk about a death wish...

Daniel's actually pretty hardy as well; I think it's genetic.

I agree that Chip definitely has them both beat out, though. How about the episode where he shredded a floppy disk with his bare hands?!

Good point about Chip. He gets thrown around like a ragdoll fairly often.

Hate to kill the fun, but remember, it's G1. What did make sense? :P

Everything made complete sense, with the scale making the most sense.

Spike grabs Jazz's photon rifle and carries it to battle in order to get the Autobots motivated when Optimus Prime was hurt. He then used it in battle.

I have a theory that before getting entangled with the Autobots, Chip was fully ambulatory. After getting injured while spectating an Autobot battle he became confined to a wheelchair. The Autobots kept him around out of a sense of guilt, but that didn't prevent him from still being annoying. Think about it. Spike gets injured and they give him Autobot X. Chip gets to stay in his wheelchair. Favoritism?

Oh, and we could only wish for the greatest cripplefight of all...

Wasn't Autobot X a complete failure though?
At least chip wasn't insane.

Maybe favortism for Chip. Perhaps the Autobots thought putting Spike's brain into Autobot X would be a good way to get rid of him while seemingly helping to keep him alive. :-?

So what happened? I haven't seen the cartoon in years.

Episode Transcript (That is a beyond awesome G1 series reference site, BTW. Here's a link to the main index.)

But the short version... Sparkplug creates an Autobot body out of spare parts, which turns out to function about as well as you'd expect a robot made out of spare parts to function (i.e. wonkily). Then Spike gets injured in a Decepticon energy raid. While Spike's getting operated on, the doctors decide his mind needs to be transplanted elsewhere. So the Autobots decide to put his mind into the spare parts Autobot body.

This goes about as well as you might expect, too (i.e. badly). Spike goes insane from the lousy body, the stress of the transfer, and the worry that he's become a Frankenstein monster. Megatron takes advantage of this to trick Spike into helping him beat on the Autobots. But in the end Sparkplug talks his son into being a good person again, and the operation is a success, and yadda.

All in all, not a good ep, IMHO. But Spike did get a cooler voice for a while.

Sparkplug was pretty tough too. Remember when Archeville (sp?) brainwashed him and as a test they made him attack a automaton version of OP?

He pushed it over, and it sounded pretty heavy when it landed.

Yea pebbles are bad asses!
But I just Imagen Spike, Sparkplug, Charly and the whelled human rampaging true the Unicron Trilogy:

Sparkplug: "Hey look at that crap looking truck!"

Spike:"Dad, let's play piggy in the middle with it!"

Spike picks up Armada Prime and trows him over to his dad, wile the wheeled human tries to catch him.

Yeah, humans seem to be way too tough in G1. But what the hey, it makes us look good. :D

As for Armada, what I didn't get was the kids' obsession with following the Autobots into battle, it'd scare the crap out of me if a bunch of giant robots started duking it out all over the place.
