Ok, so I am watching this series now for the first time in its entirety. Is a real good series so far, but I have a few questions. Ok, first, why was Rodimus back to Hot Rod, and why or how did Soundwave blow up during that brutal fight with Blaster, how in hell or why did he blow up? Also, one last comment, Victory was good too, but Star Saber was too Gundam-ish for me. And does aanyone remember that sci-fi channel about in the mid 90's had headmasters on in the morining? Reason I ask I am only able to find fan dubs, or subs. I would like the english ones.

Rodimus went back to Hot Rod at the end of Return Of Optimus Prime when Prime took back the matrix and emptied it to cure the Hate Plague. Headmasters starts 1 year after that episode (completely ignoring Rebirth).
Soundwave blew up because (and I'm tacking a wild guess here) Blaster hit a critical component when he punched through SW chest. The effort to finish off Blaster pushed SW's systems over the edge. But I agree, that was a bit bizare.
Personally, I think Victory was the best of the 3 JP series, followed closely by Headmasters, although Headmasters felt the most like Transformers.

SciFi never aired Headmasters. Their morning cartoon block never included Transformers at all. As far as I can remember, it rotated between Defenders of the Earth, Bionic Six, G-Force, Robotech, and the Droids and Ewoks series.

I will alomst agree with Victory, but i would like a non fan dub ver. i think 2 or 3 voices on the fan dub are great, but it needs a pro job. or i should get the eng subs. DeathSaurus voice in the fan dub is the most horrible voice in life, no knock on those guys, but I wuld have went a totally different route with that. It was interesting having a bot named Prime in that series not being a leader, but saber was way to Gundam.

The version I have is the Metrodome versions. They only have the Singapore English dubs on Headmasters, but it's that bad, I never use it. They also miss out the 'insert songs' (the special battle songs that appear later on in Headmasters). Never seen the fan dubs, but if you don't mind subtitles, I would get the original japanese versions. The battle songs, fights and voices are great (assuming you can watch English DVD's that is).

Aha!!..alas, but it did!!, thats the only way I saw any headmasters, you were correct about the rest of the lne up though. It lasted not too long, because I only saw a few. I dont remember much, but I remember sixshot, and the fight between Soundwave and Blaster. I remember seeing it on the preview guide channel, I saw a few as I said, but I was much younger and did not see too many.

Ok, I was looking up ALL shows ran on Sci Fi, did not see the show. So........I called. They said it Star TV ver ran for 1 week, and it does not appear on the list because they pulled after finding out that it had mis-translations. So it was never an official release. Yeah, I am fanatic. So, your right, and I'm right. Well whatvere. But, that fight between SW and Blaster, that was a good one, with a very weird ending.

They must not have lasted very long. I did some looking around and I must say I stand corrected. I couldn't find any information about who produced the dub, though. I just wish we could have all of the Japanese series released in the US with decent subtitles.
Edit:

Ah, I see. Nice work there. I wouldn't even have thought to call.

I've been wanting to get Headmasters on DVD, but I'm assuming that it doesn't play on a region 1 player. That makes me sad. I hafta to get a Multi-region player now. I've seen Blaster kill Soundwave on Youtube, but it just isn't the same as on a TV that's doesn't show everything in huge blocks of color.

When I was in college in the mid 90's, I do remember TF (Season 3, I think--G2?) being on early in the morning as well as 'Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors'. Maybe it wasn't Sci Fi, but another channel, but I remember watching these shows early in the AM as I got ready for my job, and class...

I enjoyed the Japanese Headmasters and the Re-dubs were very well done. Victory however was my favorite series from the Japanese continuity as it focused on a few characters and gave them good personalities.

The Headmasters fight between Soundwave and Blaster is 1 of the best TF battles ever! obviously the fight between prime and megatron in the movie is the best!

Dude, seriously, the words "Headmasters", "Redub" and "Very Well Done" do not go together.

Have you seen any of the stuff from TFCog.net? They do fantastic work and if I'm not mistaken the late, great TFMaster was Chromedome in Headmasters. Even though I very much dis-like anything beast wars I have BW2 and Neo on DVD and neither one have a lick of english in them but they are two of my favorites. BW2 especially.
Favorite battles, Magnus Vs. "Uncle" Sixshot. He had the most retarded seventh mode, but it killed magnus for good this time.

Personally, I think that battle is overrated. Don't get me wrong, it's a great fight, but for all the attention it gets, I found it far too short and not anything that stood out, except Deszaras getting his eye put out. I think the fight between them in the ep where the space fortress is first activated is better. Although that battle does have interruptions. But that's just my opinion.

I like how it carried over into Zone that Deszaras had an eye patch.

Deszaras isn't in Zone - that's BlackZarak you're thinking of who's got an eyepatch. And a hook for a hand. Arrrr, matey.

Ah yes, how silly of me. You're totally right, it was indeed Black Zarak who was rockin' the eye patch, not Deszaras. Muh Bah...

Pffft, I wasn't talking about fandubs. Those are better than the normal lot, I'd buy those in a second. I'm talking about the redub which gave us such wonderful gems as "Spaceship Bruce" and "new Soundwave!"

Those were the origninal fandubs unfortunately. I liked watching those just because they were so awful it made it funny.

I had forgottren all about "New Soundwave" in the starTV dub.. dont forget about "Billy" (Blaster) and "Danny" (Daniel)..
Or from MasterForce, "I'm from Japan. My name is Optimus Prime."
TFCog puts out some decent stuff... I wouldnt call it execellent (some of their voice actors need to learn to talk into a mic without sounding like they are blowing into it)... At least someone is attempting to do something like this and for that I am greatful...

It all pales next to the Dub's great triumph:
Autobot City Philip!
Transforms from city to battle station to robot who stands around looking tall but never does anything... and back.
Oh, wait, I forgot, there's Wally, but then, OTOH, that's a good description of Blurr.
