Dreamwave Comics - Will they be reprinted?

I heard that Dreamwave was bought out and will be back in business sometime in the near future. Will it be possible to see reprints of old Dreamwave Comics, or does the Transformers licence play a major role for reprints?

Well, I know there's a War Within Vol. 1 trade paperback coming, if it isn't out already. I think there was also an IDW release of G1 vol. 1. I haven't heard anything about future IDW reprints of DW stuff but I'm sure they're possible. I just hope they'll finish of War Within vol. 3 some day.

The license doesn't follow the company. It's Hasbro's.
Here's what's happening with the new DW:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dreamwave_ProductionsIDW (different company, current license holder) have so far republished DWG1V1, DWG1V2, The War Within and War Within: Dark Ages, so that people can get them if they hadn't already. They also still plan to reprint the MTMTE profile series, though that's on hold at the moment. (Lots of movie plans and other stuff.)
Dreamwave TF material is still tied up in bankruptcy and ownership claims. The cut-off point is somewhere around the middle of the DWG1V3 #1-6 arc, apparently, as #1 can be reprinted but a full first arc trade reprint of #1-6 can't.
Personally I consider a War Within: Age of Wrath wrap-up be the most likely project DW-related project IDW might embark on, but there's been no official word.

I would sincerely hope that whoever bought out DW will ginish the G1 Ongoing & WWI storylines. I was really pissed off at that. As far as I know, WWI Vol. 1 already out, since I saw it this past weekened. TF's Generations VOl. 1 is also out, I saw that too. Infiltration is out as well. So is BW: The Gathering. That's all I know. I really want to see the G1 Ongoing series finished. That was very good IMHO. I also would like to see the ending of WWI Vol.3, But we all know how it ends & how G1 gets its 'official' start.

I've never read the G1 ongoing from DW, but if it's anything like "War and Peace" then I'll avoid it.
"War Within: Age of Wrath" is something I would like to see, tohugh.

Why? It was poor.
It's highly unlikely IDW will choose to finish off a comic from three years ago, originated by another (less-than-loved by the TF community) company, when they're already producing substantially better stuff. And with the movie and Heroes line upcoming, there's just no need to do it.
Consider it just one of the many alternate TF universes out there, and leave it be... (or just watch the original animated movie, as let's face it, most of what Dreamwave did was ripped off from it).

Thanks for the info everyone!
Yeah, all I'm really interested in is the "TF: More than Meets the Eye" profile TPB.
I just want a collected issue with all the info.

Christian Dery owns Dreamwave. Hasbro owns Transformers. Neither the new Dreamwave nor Hasbro own any unpaid work, or the storylines of the unpaid creators.
http://www.comicbookresources.com/colum ... ticle=2102Over a quarter of a million was left owing to creators.
1 ADAM PATYK $18,400.00 $18,400.00 TF Writer
2 JAMES MCDONOUGH unknown
3 JAMES MCDONOUGH $26,286.00 $26,286.00 TF Writer
So, just for two writers (not including any artists, colourists or other staff who worked on the comics they wrote) to
reprint their existing unpaid work -- before any continuation was contracted -- would cost a publisher $44,686.
This is very unlikely to happen.
War Within is a tiny bit more feasible.

Nonetheless, I would like to see Ongoing finished. If Leo & Magnus don't like it, that's fine by me. I just wanna see Prime make his comeback. And there's unfinished bussiness between Megs & Starscream. Not to mention Elita-1 & the Fembots were supposed to make an appearance..........but can anybody diasgree w/me on WWI? Prime was supposed to make his comeback there as well, & we never learned what happened Flash on Quintessa, or what became of Megatron's rule over Cybertron. All this stuff left unfinished...........

Just pointing out that the people who bought Dreamwave can't finish anything. They have nothing to do with Transformers.
(And why no-one else is likely to. Though you could probably get McDonough to tell you what the plot was going to be for less than $26,000 -- assuming it was planned ahead. Furman did something similar for the old G2 comics for a UK convention.)

Chris Ryall just stated in an interview at Cybertron Phillipines that they were looking forward and not back, and he wanted to be able to focus on their creation of the continuity and not what was done by Marvel or DW.
And he also said what Denyer said, the unfinished items are not possible to be reprinted, or I believe he said they could not be finished either. So those hoping for the femme bots story from G1 third volume to be completed...sorry. Same goes for WWI volume 3...
Sucks because I would have liked to have seen those stories and arcs at least finished.

I'm just re-reading the DW G1 stuff at the minute and I have to say, apart from the Sunstorm arc which did drag in places (but was cool in others) I really did enjoy the series and am sad it all ended up the way it did.
And I am really disapointed that we did not get to see Cyclonus and Scourge team up as they are two of my favourite characters and it would have been the first time I would have seen them back in action in almost twenty years.
It is a shame that it looks like we will never get to know how that series was going to end up. But at least IDW are putting out some quality material right now and with Galvatron coming up soon, can Cyclonus and Scourge be too far behind?
