Cybertron Inconsistencies?

I just purchased a complete DVD set for Cybertron and I have lots to say, but maybe another post. Right now I wanted to ask about something that's bugging me: consistency issues. I'm not sure if watching the set as a Marathon makes me miss phases or not, but here's one skip that disturbs me more than most, and I'm hoping if anyone has the missing piece maybe they can help me fill it.

First, we see Scourge to be a tyrant. The story develops and we see him with a rather interesting backstory, and then develop into a more sympathetic, honourable warrior. He and Prime earn mutual respect, shake hands on it, shows a soft side to Lori, and then rages when Megatron and his goons raze his forest. Prime leaves him as leader of Jungle Planet even though it was his right to rule having beated Scourge.

It is here that I may have missed a sizeable chunk, because the next thing I know, i see him flailing away at Starscream's trap for Megatron trying to get him out!? Then the next thing he joins up with Megatron, and Prime says, why am I not surprised you've aligned with Megatron.

Did I miss something here? Even if he decided he wanted to be a tyrant after all, he knew that Megatron lied to him, had no sense of honour, so why would he rescue Megs? Someone tell me I missed something while sleeping during my marathon, please.

well as i remember, Scourge switched sides because Megs offered him power. Watch the episodes again, I may be wrong.

In my experiences, you should never expect good storytelling from the Japanese. No matter how low you set the bar, they'll find some way to get under it. Even to the point of turning the Transformers into sexual predators/pedophiles. Someday, somehow, I'm sure they'll find a way to do something even worse than Kiss Players.

Ummm... yeah... I'm sure glad I never got to watch the Transformers I love get debauched and debased in that way. Have read about it though...

hmmm, that's a bit unfair if we're talking about Cybertron. it was an OK show, but the inconsistencies were namely because the American release tried to realign the series with the Armada & Energon continuities, while the original format for Cybertron (Galaxy Force in Japan) was a standalone show with its own separate continuity.

the errors you may have noticed might be a combination of translation lapses combined with Hasbro's attempt to make this series in-line with the previous 2 animes.

I only watched Galaxy force.
but wasn't Crumplezone(I think that's his US name) the only one to not get trapped?(or was it the motorcycle?)

Anyways one of the decepticons was left out of the trap so he went to back to Animatros to get help from flame convoy(scourge). Flame Convoy agreed to help because he wanted to fight Optimus again. I may be wrong.

edit:
At JazZeke

While I think Galaxy Force was 10x better than Cybertron(no horrible accents yay!) the story was pretty simple.

Was this because the japanese are bad at story telling.
This is defiantly a no. There have been many great stories to come out of japan, not to mention the first novel in earth history. Glaxy Force was simple because it was just a commercial to sell toys to 5-12 year olds. All they really needed was cool fight scenes and toy accurate models.
