I need help identifying a G1 episode

Ok, this is going to be a little vague because all I have to go on is my friend's memory. He claims he remembers an episode where Optimus Prime is either injured or close to death. To save him, a "yellow car" (which I assumed to be Bumblebee) goes on a quest to save him. He goes into some cave where he get empowered by some force or another which makes him super bad ass, even altering his physical appearance by adding more guns and what not.

I read through some episode guides and couldnt find anything that matched his description. Do you guys have any idea which episode, if it even exists, my friend is talking about?

I think your friend may have ingested some chemicals that effected his memory. Although, the part about the cave, the yellow car, and the badass part sounds to me like "The Golden Lagoon" where Beachcomber finds a pool of some golden substance that makes him (and anyone else covered in it) impervious to damage. It's the 25th episode of season two, I think.

As far as I'm aware no such episode exists.

The episode in question is "Divide and Conquer" (season 1)

That's the closest one I can think of. Although no one gets extra guns. Or turns into a badass. Just a pep talk from Chip.

Yep. And every time I hear that I think of Shockwave's Burden...

"That doesn't really apply here, Chip. Weee... get your point."

Thanks for the ideas, guys, but I watched both episodes mentioned and they weren't the ones he was thinking of. I was impressed with the suggestions though because I could see how they could fit the criteria. Heh, I'm pretty sure my friend has no idea what he's talking about.

How long ago does he remember watching it? It could be that he remembers bits of different episodes and they've all mashed together in his memory.

something about this is reminiscent of gobots... though i cant say what. this could have also been one of the many diffrent story and tape books.

its also possiblle hes getting parts of the movie jumbled together.

Yeah, it sounds like your friend to a few pieces from the two aforementioned episodes and then concocted some scenes of his own.

Don't hold it against him; back right when I was getting back into TFs after the 10 years of it being absent in my life between G1 and BW I had a couple of scenes that I was sure of seeing to then never see them when I first rewatched all G1 episodes for the first time.

That was when Optimus was brought back to life after the movie. I don't remember any caves or extra guns.

There was an episode with the ruby mine in which Bumblebee and Spike were caught in the explosion of the mine. Optimus was hurt then, but Bumblebee and Spike were ok. :-? He is probably mixing episodes or mis-remembering some things. Or he read other stories.

There have been occasions where I have been incorrect on details. Often, I have different dialogue, better and more streamlined. Or there are other details different or some omitted. On rare occasions, I have remembered something from a dream as if real. Once I thought a friend had a small toy that was just lost. :-? That almost never happens, but your friend is probably mis-remembering things.

Nightmare Planet was a great episode! It taught me how to control my nightmares so I wouldn't be scared. I adjust my dreams to follow paths of my choosing instead. *not kidding*

:-? There was the scene where Galvatron led them thorugh a cave and Bumblebee/Goldbug got snared on that giant spider web.

It's called lucid dreaming, and I do it too sometimes.

How do you do that? I would love to control my dreams considering how...um... :-s warped and twisted they are. The closest I've come is consciously willing myself to wake up before I get killed.

It's an acquired trait, similar to autohypnosis. I seem to be half-awake when I dream like that, and can feel myself move around. The downside is less surprising dreams and sometimes waking up too early. If nightmares were actual horse-spirits like in the Xanth novels, I've probably offended some of them.

I know, we were talking about "The Return of Optimus Prime", weren't we? You sounded so excited! Is it one of your favourite episodes?
