TF Fans That Dislike TF Animated.

I was not entertained by the premiere on Cartoon Network of Transformers Animated. I fell asleep before the end of the show. That's how bored I was with it. I have given all my opinions on the other thread about it. Now, I'd like to see what others that didn't like it have to say about.

Speak up!

My biggest gripe was the animation.

I really don't like seeing TF's in such a two dimensional mis-proportioned way.

That style of animation turned me off quickly. The voice work was alright. But it doesn't feel Transformerish at all. Say what you will about Armada. Atleast it stayed true to what the Transformers should be about in a different way.

Over all I did like the show but I do have some grips with it, mainly animation. I didn't really care for the way they moved when they talked in vehicle mode. I mean they had them with pseudo eyes on their windshields and they "flexed" a bit when showing emotion when they talked. It felt like the old Looney Toon type car cartoon with the taxi car family and the little car that wanted to be a race car.

I could gripe about were they got inspiration for the human characters like sarri, Sentinel's resemblance to The Tick, or even the animation style in general...

 but it was the chinimus prime that nearly did me in.

for a current G1 reboot i think it's fine for the target audience and has enough vintage references to warrant my one time viewing. I wholey understand if this is not the case for others.

I've seen the 1st 10 episodes (it was a gift from a cn friend) but it looks like it gets better so i'll watch the rest when thy come out.

oh, and the 'flexy car' mode is popular with there target demographic. Most of there kidzy assertions are done for that purpose, and i'ld like to get my nephews interested in it, seeing as they already like Beastwars, the cars movie... and Ben 10.

The "flexy car" modes and implied eyes on the windshields are what nailed the coffin shut on the show for me. What's worse is the plot and storyline is good but the cheese-ball dialog and goofy looks kill it for me.

The demographic for the show (and toys for that matter) are the same as it was when the original show aired back in the 80s. I remember being in my mid teens and chatting with my younger cousins, that were between the ages of 5 through 10 at the time, about the TFs cartoons and the toys.

The "new" style of animation just does not work (for me at least). It's a cop-out! Comparing the style to Pixar's "Cars" is a good comparison... Too bad it was copied so horribly.

I wouldn't say that I "disliked" the first episodes as I would say that I was rather unimpressed. The animation is definately a major problem for me (make's them look like a bunch of Jay Leno-wannabe Gobots). But I'll hold off on my final opinion until the rest of the series aires.

I'm pretty disappointed with TFA in all honesty. When the art was first coming out I really liked the designs 'cause it seemed they had done a good job in blending G1 look with new animation style (I loved the Teen Titans animation for the record) so I assumed it would look good in action.

But it seems a lot of the smoothness and awesomeness of these designs is lost in the translation from paper to screen, and was it me or did scale issues come back with avengence with this series? Say what you will about the Unicron Trilogy but at least Energon and Cybertron had consistant scale, lol. And the story was...meh.

The first 15-20 minutes I liked 'cause we got the intros done pretty well (Though Lugnut must've stolen Tankor's personallity component) the rest of it was under-whelming until Screamer came along. I'd much rather have my 'Bots fighting 'Cons than some angry mutanted cockroach thing...

Ah well, at least the toys look killer

I tolerated the animation. It needs some work done on it. Some of the voices will need to grow on me. But I cannot give my full opinion until I see more of the episodes.

I generally liked it. My one big gripe: Not enough Cons and too many infernal humans for my tastes!

MORE Megatron, dernit!!

Other than that, it was decent. Must see more, though....not enough to say "thumbs up" or "thumbs down".

I think the show will be entertaining and fun to watch.

My disappointment is that the toys actually look like the show. Odd thing to complain about? Yes. But do I want what are essentially SD transformers on my shelves? Not really.

The whole show was a total disappointment. I was turned off immediately and felt like changing the channel. Animation does not fit, voices were too cartoony, the dialogue was too "jokey" ex. "Where do the little humans come from?", the people looked like a badly drawn Stewey Griffon, the vehicles looked like the cab from "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?". There was just so many things wrong with this series, I am just not going to watch it. I know I won't like it so I am not going to sit through it. All of the G1 references isn't going to make it a good show either. I'll wait for the Adult Swim version with Peter Cullen and Frank Welker voices and 2008 Sunbow animation. Now THAT would be nice.

Can we please keep Animated discussion (especially thoughts on the show overall) to one thread? Thanks.
