would you watch a G 1 remake

My husband was watching Justice Leage the other night. After Justice League comes The Batman. So they have remade Batman, Superman, and Superfriends and that is only what I can think of right now.The animation and overall quality of those shows is much better then the origionals. I think all of those cartoons are made by WB though. How popular do you think a remake of G 1 would be? I dont know if it just people like me who grew up with that show who would watch it or if it would be popular overall.

Would I watch it? yes, if it were on a channel I already had or online.
do i think there should be a remake? no.
Personally, I prefer it when they get good writers with new ideas.

Agreed, a remake webisode type deal would be fun(if done right).
But I'm sick to death of retellings and rehashings.
At this point I'd like to see them just pick a point and move on from there, maybe do a side line of something going on elsewere, or a War Within style prequil.
whats been done has been done. Remember it well and move forward, or even backwards, just stop recreating that same initial spot!

I agree with Liege Evilmus. Say pick up with season three/four. Go with stories from many different sub groups and then interplay with an ongoing story line. Simliar to the IDW way of having spotlights. That way we get to see many characters and get a variation. Not just oh no the decepticons stole the fuel. Oh look new bots. Wow. earth wow cyberton.
OH Yeah lots of action and character developlment. But leave time for some stories of transformer life when they are not fighting.

Oh yeah the same old cartoon with a new look would be rather boring. We would all know what happens. Same charaters with a new storyline was more like I was talking about.

I'm with the minority on this one then.... I love watching G1 episodes but if Hasbro decided to redo the series with better animation..... i'd be all for it.
Hell, if they could make G1 look like that spot on the TF's website... i'd be all in. Megatron and Prime looked amazing.

This is something noone else has brought up yet, but for me the fact that atleast half of the main cast voice actors have passed away at this point (movie and show), it wouldn't be the same at all. You could have Megatron and Prime right, but that would end up being all about them to play up the nostalgia that couldn't be generated with most of the other characters that they didn't play themselves. It just wouldn't be G1 without Chris Latta and Scatman Crothers, rest in piece, and Casey Kasen (boycotted show). For me no matter how good it was, it it was truely a remake and not a reboot like idw's there would be no way for me to watch it. Even with a reboot it wouldn't be the same at all. It would be like X-men:evolutions which would be fine, but as its own thing.

How about this for an idea then. Simon Furman and a bunch of the guys behind the IDW comics and some like minded animators work on some animated storys in the same timeline? could be at any point or could be spotlights or something else i havent thought of. Would be a bummer not to have the same voices though.

Question: Would I watch a G1 remake?
Answer: HELL NO!
I am no fan of remakes myself....Now, if someone wanted to do a CGI reboot using G1 characters in the same time-line, but with new stories, I would consider it....but a rehash of old stories done without the beloved old voice-actors would just, IMO, suck the suck of a thousand sucks!

I'd like to see a animated version of IDW's comics.
They have the best stories to date.

I have a read a few, and I totally agree! They'd have to be for more grown-folks though....If they kiddied them up, I would just cry!

As long as it didnt have the cheesy storylines and better animation, yes.
That would all be a given should it actually be done though.

As long as the animation/art style wasn't in the JLU style. Mecha and robots just don't work at all in that style.

I would be curious to see a 3d-cg G1 version of the cartoon. same style characters and whatnot. And use the original voice/music track. A remake in the sense they redo the animation.

I think it's a neat idea, but it would depend a lot on its execution, and in what sense they meant to revamp it. Like picking up where Zone left off?
Or taking our beloved G1 cast, and darkening the overall story arc, and adding more mature themes and action? I could totally get behind that. I really enjoyed the animation from Robots in Disguise, but the story lines were kinda lame, but something in that vein with a Furman-level story could be all kinds of awesome.
My ideal would be gundam 00-level animation married to Furman-level story line.

theres no point. Transformers moves on and gets better.
The original was great, im watching them now after a long time. But they cannot be remade because now theres a load of better well written transformers stuff.
Series where they dont turn into tape decks ala Soundwave.
in the quizz i came up as Starscream. First Jazz then Starscream.
Good quiz.

Not an exact retelling of the original episodes. If they did the episodes with different characters say where were the missing characters in the original episodes, what were they doing were they off on different missions? If they did that it would still be the original series but it would also be original itself. They could mesh them together, say when the autobots blew up the space brige where were some of the others at? Take it from that point of view! Good writers are a must though. The great writing and amazing animation of today would make an excellent series for old and new alike, and still be original!

Oh yeah, I would definately watch that! I just wish the folks who make these kind of shows would get the hint. I think G1 in this form would definately be a hit, especially if it was more darker and had less goofy episodes. The newer TMNT show has that, and it is more highly esteemed then the original. Though some of the voices would be a problem, as some of the old actors are deceased. But that is what voice auditions are for, so you can find a voice that sounds almost or very close to the original..or even an improvement.
Besides, why do the kiddies get to have all of the fun? Why can't the previous generation who helped launch the craze get the show they have been dreaming of? Even the kiddies would probably like the more grown up version... Look at Beast Wars, it has more mature elemements in it, episodes that make you think, and characters to care for. And it is regarded as the the best. Why not do this for G1?
