Spotlight Ramjet

I just received a copy of Spotlight: Ramjet in the mail today. The local comic stores didn't have any still in stock (I'm behind). I had it read in a short period of time and I sat there and thought about it. Then I pulled out the profiles and tech specs and came to a conclusion.

Ramjet wasn't even smart enough to come up with such a complex plan of overthrowing Megatron, let alone get away with it. I guess it just proves that average intelligence isn't enough. His first mistake was trying to bring Skywarp in on it, and I think Skywarp is more loyal to Megatron than most other Decepticons (Woundwave may be one of the exceptions). So, where is Simon Furman coming from with Ramjet having a Shockwave/Starscream personality? He's nothing more than a Seeker Jet lackey.

The IDW Furmanverse characters are not based on the old G1 tech Specs and bio's anymore. They share similarities and characteristics, but are otherwise completely different entities, made from a (mostly) clean slate.

Furman has retooled various characters, as has Stuart Moore, the writer who penned Spotlight: Ramjet.

I need to re-read that spotlight and figure out how it ties in to the main story now. :-?

Well then, I guess I get to do the same thing if I should ever do some transformer writing. Heck, forget about ever creating character profiles if they can be modified for the sake of story.

It doesn’t. Because if it does, it validates the NA/TF crossover. Which can never, ever happen

I don't recall anything about the NA/TF story in TFS Ramjet. Other then the fact Ramjet was in both.

It's the New Avengers/Transformers Crossover 4 issue comic that was released in mid 2007.

According to all reports, no, you missed nothing.

For those of us who will probably never read the TF vs. NA crossover... How does it tie in with SL: Ramjet?

Oh, ok. That must be where the Avenger Transformers are coming from. That didn't appeal to me much.

Then you obviously never read it.

Or did you miss Skywarp's dialogue on page 2 where he tells Ramjet that Megatron hasn't had much use for him since some unknown business that happened prior to the issue. Unless IDW gets around to filling this gap, I choose to believe that the NA/TF crossover is what they're talking about.

Of course, they're not actually talking about it, but anyone who can put two and two together can figure it out.

Which is apparently why they chose to off Ramjet in the Spotlight; sort of a means to tie up a loose end.

Though it will make it interesting if they decide to expand on Thrust's story or decide to introduce Dirge.

Ok, that makes sense to me now. I raised an eyebrow when I read that page, wondering if that was something I should have known about or if if would come in a flashback sceane later on in the main story or spotlights. I'll also choose to belive it was something in the NA/TF crossover, unless I see otherwise later on.

My other big question re: SL Ramjet... What's going to happen to his micro-constructicons, or the remaining mini-constructicon? He did have a lot of things in motion, and I wonder if any of those things will come in to play later. Maybe Dante/Scorpinok will find them? :?
