Spotlight Mirage, A Discussion (Spoilers)

Just got done reading Spotlight Mirage :D . He's always been one of my favorite characters, but this issue knocked him up a few notches. The sheer wickedness and coniving qualities make him the most convincing Decepticon. The purple shield on his chest actually looks like it has always been there, and that it might be akward to see him as an Autobot.

While, in my own opinion, this is not the best Spotlight, it still delivers everything we've come love and expect from the series. The artwork is great and the story makes perfect sense.

If there is one thing I'd like to see spun off from this issue, it is the need for Spotlight Hound. I find his personality appealing and interesting, and he seems to carry the Autobots and the story itself a bit. (The fact that Hound ruthlessly rips Soundwaves head off makes this issue worth it in itself, I'd love to get a blown up still of that frame! )

Oh yeh, the busted crest on Ratchet looked oddly familiar...(Animated)

I'm glad that there is such a short stint between Spotlight issues this month, I want more. =P~

It was in no way the best Spotlight, but certainly, it was an interesting character development pieces.

However, have we even seen Mirage in IDW yet? Does this mean we will see him soon? If so, in what capacity? Whose group will he be a part of?

I like him better as a homesick Autobot, unsure of whether he needs to fight, but not necessarily a possible traitor. I never thought of Mirage as a killer type, or a thug, just sort of an unsure aristocratic, loner type.

But this is IDW, and it is their universe... :D The are was mostly well done, and there were certainly some interesting battle scenes.

This is out already? I had no idea. Does the parallel dimension idea work well or not?

We did see Mirage in Blaster's issue, albeit briefly, if you remember. He was one of the suspects but we didn't get any real insight into his character, other than that he seems to look directly at security cameras with the expression of a grumpalump.

Great fun.
This issue actually made me search the local comic stores back issues to dig up all of Infiltration and Escalation and ask them to keep them back for me so I can buy one every now & then when I have money.

It took a while for me to get it, having not read the usual previews or anything, and having not paid any interest to Mirage in G1, but it was very good and cleverly written. Anyone else notice the regen-chamber in Decepticon-Mirage timeline is purple while the Autobot-Mirage's is blue?

I was looking forward to this one! Lots of action, a neat story. It was fun seeing Mirage as a real Decepticon, though yeah, I prefer him as the unsure Autobot. It's been a really good month for Transformers fans.

I also agree that Hound kicked butt in SL: Mirage, but I would have rather that his role in it be played by Cliffjumper, as a nod to the G1 episode "Traitor" but that's just me. This one wouldn't have ended with the two of them rolling around on the floor together giggling.

I am also left wondering what the new IDW Mirage is going to be like. So the only other time we saw him was when he was a suspect for shooting Blaster? Seriously, now with last issue...

Can't wait to see more of Mirage in the main story. He was kind of a cutie in it too. I might be developing a crush on an autobot if this keeps up. (shhh...)

I think I need to read this one again, I really didn't get anything out of it except a feeling of , "yeah and so what?". LIked the art work though and it's always good to see Hound. Where does this fit in with the IDW - verse though? That's part of the fun of the spotlights for me, and I just couldn't work it out.

I don't think it fits in at all, unless Mirage is already on Earth (as he appears to be on the last page) and we just don't know it yet.

This was a good issue, plenty of action - but the fact that it doesn't appear to link in at all leaves me feeling a bit meh.

What I dont get is the panel where Starscream is basically killing Prime by driving a spear through his chest.

Is that a flashback from the end of the issue where Starscream kills Prime after shoving Mirage into that energy container or does it happen before the event that leaves him a regeneration chamber.

If it is the latter with Spotlights being in continuity does that mean at some point Starscream drives a spear through Prime?

what i love about this story is, even after reading it a few times, i still don't get it completely. here how i understand it

in evil mirages time line without shoulder cannon,) he kills hound, then gets pushed trough the zodiac energy chamber. in good mirages time line (with soulder cannon,) n the pegasus star cluster, prime gets killed by starscream, (or is it mirage in disgies?) and mirage got his butt kicked during the end of the war. i see that hound and mirage has earth modes. because evil mirage fell through the zodiac chamber and goos mirage dieing, I'm wondering if he switched places with good mirage. (mirage did have a kind of W.T.F? expression when he sees hound alive.) regardless, he broke the time/space contenuem, therefore, both are dreaming of each other while in the C.R. chamber.

thats my take

I recon that it's a intersection of dimensions, the evil and good Mirage both come into contact with the Zodiac and both get see what the other sees. Ofcourse they both dismiss it as a dream.

also true.
why is there a spark around good mirage's head on the third to the last page, after evil mirage falls through the zodiac energy chamber? thats the only thing that doesn't make sense to me at this moment.
i like stories you can talk about for hours afterwards.

I liked it, even though I don't really see how it ties into the main Furmanverse. I guess being not written by Furman, it can be kind of left alone for some time (like Spotlight Ramjet and Kup).

It's nice to have a kind of opaque ending, where nothing is actually resolved, yet where the characters stay m ore or less true to their predefined characters. Having Hound, Prime and Ratchet as the last remaining Autobots was a nice twist, having Hound take out Soundwave was superb, and Mirage blackmailing Megatron was nicely done too.

It was a very quick read, felt almost like an extended Mosaic, art was fantastic, although there were too many "spearings" for my likening! :P

It was a quick read, wasn't it?

Yes, this issue was okay but there wasn't enough of Mirage's thoughts on it for my opinion. I would've liked more caps detailing his reactions, etc.

great art, loved it.

story read like an extended mosaic (not that it's a bad thing)

and yeah, mirage is supposed to question his allegiance, but that hardly reflected in the story. maybe after the whole "reverse allegiance" thing, i was hoping for more introspection on mirage's part.

but hey, it's still a good spotlight!

when it comes to the whole idea of mirage and his evil mirage counterpart swapping their places in dimensional reality with one another.

does anyone else here get a Flashes of Two Worlds sort of vibe"?

its a precrisis storyline from dc comics

that is to say that the story itself took place before crisis on infinite earths

in the story the flash from earth 1 of the main universe finds himself literally meeting his earth 2 counterpart

storyline wise it led to the justice league of america as it existed in the present day e dc comics at the time meeting the justice society of america which itself served as the earth 2 counterpart to the earth 1 justice league

in the main earth 1 universe the jsa was actually the golden age incarnation of the jla
