Simon Furman's Blog Update- Spotlight Wheelie-

Simon Furman updates his log with some information about a certain 'underdog' June spotlight (underdog to Spotlight Cyclonus) that folks probably should not ignore.
Some of these more detailed comic plots could be considered minor spoilers, so be forewarned...
"So what can you expect from Spotlight: Wheelie? Well, a really solid, character-led story for a start. For a large part, it's just Wheelie, doing his level best to survive against all the odds. Then there's a certain trio of Decepticons making their debut, plus a last-but-one page shocker that'll just floor you! And ties into stuff that's in the works for 09 and beyond! Oh, and we even get into why (by the end of the issue at least) Wheelie talks in rhyming couplets. As far as Spotlights go, we really think this one is the full ticket. Who'da thunk it!!"
--Simon Furman (doing his best Wheelie impersonation)
Read the whole Blog with details about the process that artist/colourist Klaus Scherwinski and Simon Furman went to in treating the character that everyone loves to hate to his very own SPOTLIGHT. Coming in June '08!

Let the Wheelie jokes and rhymes begin,
because we know those puns are full of win, win, win!!!

Simon tries to really sell,
but most fans want Wheelie in hell.
I was gonna get it anyway. Sounds like they put ALOT of effort into Wheelies SL since he's not exactly a favorite.

Wheely say, gay OK!
Sorry, that was the only rhyme I could think of right now, I know LAME!
I'm actually quite hyped for this one!

Why all this Wheelie hate?
Character development late.
If they had released this pre-movie,
Wheelie may be more than groovy!
Just as good as Optimus Prime,
Only difference he talks in rhyme.
This Spotlight Justicity await,
maybe they hint Wheelie's fate.
If they explain like they had Arcee,
Then maybe fans won't get arsy.
Previous rhyme I know was tenuous,
What the hell, nothing rhymes with tenuous.
Crap.

A trio of Decepticons makes their debut? What trio hasn't made a debut as either a part or a group yet? The Insecticons, perhaps?

I hope the issue is a little heavy on the insecticons insecticons!
*Please, Primus, may they be who Simon is talking about!*
Although, we did see Bombshell in the Blaster Spotlight, right?
(not really a debut)
I hope I'm suprised and please with IDW Wheelie. For instance, I like IDW HotRod, and I did NOT like previous incarnations of that character. Maybe this new Wheelie won't be so bad...

I love Wheelie, he needs more air time.
Maybe I love him because his couplets rhyme.

RE: Wheelie
As long as IDW Wheelie keeps his bottom off of Grimlock's head I'm good.

Simon furman is the man,
But I wish Wheelie would just be canned.
But seriously, I am interested in reading this issue.
It sounds like a sin or something.

Certain trio of Decepticons?
Might as well scrape the bottom of the barrel and throw in Spectro, Viewfinder and Spyglass.
However, Flamefeather, Sparkstalker and Cindersaur would be interesting.

Oh man, please be the Insecticons! Whatever it is, they've convinced me that this Spotlight will be worth getting. Just the artwork for it makes it look like a great story is behind it.

If you look at the picture this is blatently Cindersaur as hes the only dinosaur with that effect on his head and i know of no other trio that matches this criteria.
Seems once again Furman is adding in little known characters whose bio showed an interesting scope for development. I much prefer this carefull approach to random characters being thrown in one by one than DW fanw@nk of just shoving loads of cameos based on fan faves (which while being good as we all love predaking etc) which ignore newer characters we havent had a chance to love

Ya know looking at the art and then looking for trios of Decepticons it makes sense that it would be the Firecons considering that Wheelie's Spotlight will be a survival story.
