right now i'm watching megatron's master plan part 2 and it got me thinking about a question i've had for years. what ever happened to spikes father sparkplug. it season 3 he was missing and not even mentioned. was he mentioned or seen in the japanese subseqent series, did he die, does anyone know.

It's never been touched on in the cartoons or the 86 Movie.

In the Dreamwave comics he died in the Ark-2 explosion.

Considering he was in his 40's in the 80's and the movie is supposed to be in 2005, my guess is that they just figured he would be too old (or possibly dead) to be involved in adventures. Not to many 7 year olds are into geriatric action stars.

He shot himself when Daniel was born.

I thought I heard somewhere that he was supppose to have been killed by Ravage in the TFTM.. Don't remember where i heard that rumour though

Dont forget about Chip.We never saw him or his wheel chair again ether.

Now that I think of it....has Sari's robo-dog in Animated (named, you guessed it, Sparkplug) ever shown up again?

Maybe it's a tradition.

I think that he was simply written off the show to make way for new characters like Daniel... Just like how Omega Supreme never appeared again after Season2.

i thought omega was in a season 3 episode?!?!?!?!?! I couldve sworn he did

He appeared in "The Big Broadcast of 2006"

wasn't omega also in five faces of darkness.

i did titter to that myself, having said that, every time i listen to daniel (especially in the headmasters english dub) i want to kill myself lol

He was clearly written off the G-1 show as they decided to go the teen adventurers route with Spike, Chip Chase and Carly.

Sparkplug owned a garage in New York so he could have just worked their until his retirement and left the robot fighting to his kid.

"Clearly" you say??????The problem with this theory is that he was written off the show at about the same time that Chip and Carly were.

Carly only had two episodes in season 3 and in one of them said only two words.

Chip was never seen again after the two parter "Megatron's Master Plan" so Sparkplug out laster him.

Also by the time Sparkplug was written off the show Spike, Chip and Carly were no longer teenagers.

Sparkplug was written off at the start of season 3 and in season 3 both Spike and Carly were 20 years older then they were in season 2.

Sorry to be so picky but Carly had 3 appearances in season 3.

Was she in "Nightmare planet" I didnt remember......and She may have been standing around in "Surprise Party" I'm to sleepy to remember right now.

But that wasnt really my point now was it.I dont doubt that Sparkplug's age may have been "A" reason for writting him out but it wasnt done in favor of teenage characters since carly was no longer a teenager.

If Sparkplug was in his mid 40's in season 1 [as he looked] he would have been in his mid 60's by season 3 and that might have been too old for a human to be running around with giant robots.

Yes she was in Nightmare Planet.

Yeah Sprakplug Pretty much was too old or died. He was in 40's in Season 1 and 2 and and 20yrs later.... we could say he retired and moved Florida while Spike and Carly Got Married , Moved to Cybertron and had Daniel.
