i enjoy comics.
ok i love comics.
just not TF comics.
i guess i tend to stay with the leading publishers, acctually more marvel than dc but the tf comics never seemed to interest me...
until now.
i'm looking at the stuff for this "All Hail Megatron" and i'm thinking, wow, this is badass.
so can anyone explain exactly what it is. i'm not sure how the idw continuity is so i dunno what the hell is going on. anyone wanna help me out? thanks!

Wow! You're asking for a boatload of typing to go into all the Transformery goodness that IDW has graced us with! Best bet is to go and seek the information out on your own...I am not trying to be rude or anything, but there is just SOOOOOOOO much there, it is quite a feat to ask for someone to Readers' Digest it all!
Suffice it to say that you should think about getting some TPBs of past continuities! I was not much for comics either (collected the crap out of them when I was kid, but none since the mid-80's), but IDW dragged me back to the comics store to spend my money on comics again!

You will be wanting many trade paperbacks.
The core books are:
Infiltration
Escalation
Devastation
With Revelation to come alter this year.
The secondary titles include:
Spotlights Book 1
Spotlights Book 2
and potentially Stormbringer to explain a few other little things.

Also, Megatron: Origin gives backstory on more than just Megatron. Fortunately, there's a massive hardbound copy that includes Infiltration, Escalation, Spotlight V. 1, and Stormbringer, which I think is cost-effective with the Amazon discount and which is printed with slightly larger pages than comics or TPB, so you're seeing all the art at its best.
IDW essentially began its own continuity in contemporary times using the familiar G1 characters. It's an action-driven comic to make good enough reading beyond the solid fanbase, though there's no substance to it in particular. Definitely fun and recommended.

The short of it (try to keep as spoiler-free as possible):
Optimus Prime and the Autobots have left Earth to go...elsewhere, leaving Megatron and his Decepticons free to do as they wish with the Earth.
AHM is set about a year after the Autobots left Earth.
However there is a very small contingent of Autobots still on Earth, who may or may not have a part to paly in AHM.

"all hail megatron" could be a good jump on point, because it takes place a year from now, and none of us no much about it, so we are just about as clueless as you.
this is a 12 issue event of what life is like when theres no autobots around to keep the desepticons in check. so the writer has nothing to hold him back on story telling
go get that "Focus on Decepticons" comic for more infomation. while you wait for this, go get anything that says transformers on it in the mean time. dont forget the upcoming spotlights too
what you missed so far is most autobots leaving earth, i wont spoil anything else. my conclusion is, your an idiot for waiting this long to decide to pick this up, idw transformers is awsome, because of how everything is tied together like a giant web
