Transformers Animated Episode 18-Return of the Headmaster

I'm starting this topic because I just saw the episode via torrent. I heard FanTransformers is uploading it too today or soon. It is pretty funny, and you get to see more rivalry between Optimus and Sentinel, and both are enjoyable to watch and have some funny lines. The issue with Sari is not resolved, although Bulkhead and Bumblebee try to figure it out.
Anyone who is waiting till Saturday, you should enjoy it!
So, discuss!

Thanks for the info. Sadly I doubt I’ll enjoy this episode if its “funny”, I’ve found that most of the humorous episodes come off rather pointless and boring, not to mention the last Headmaster episode gave me a headache.
But who knows, maybe it’ll be decent, or it might just be TOTAL OWNAGE!

It's not so much funny, as it has humorous moments, more than likely to try and balance out all the sad moments in the Sari subplot.
This episode is more character building for Sentinel Prime, thankfully he remains the obnoxious overconfident idiot that he has already been portrayed as.
Powell seems to be a good villain, certainly has the smarts to get to be the President of Sumdac corporation. Headmaster was used only to advance the Optimus showing up Sentinel section, as a villain he really did nothing new or different which is a shame because he is mildly amusing, because he is so bad.
I do wonder how Sentinel can be part of "The Elite Guard" when he seems to have very limited battle skills and knowledge of warfare and tactics. At least last week Jazz proved his battle worthiness.
Not a bad episode, but not a must see in terms of what happens, storyline or character development.

I just saw this episode (Thanks Veoh!)...and it was MUCH better than I expected it to be! Headmaster is a royal douchebag and to see an ep with his return was a little....annoying.....but then I actually watched it! It was refreshingly more of an episode dealing with the issues between Sentinal and Optimus, which I was waiting for....oh, and to see Headmaster humiliate Sentinal was a bonus!

The whole Sari subplot is developing nicely as well. Powell is a new villian that we have to deal with, and an effective one as well. No one likes a corporate take-over mastermind, thus making him effectively hateable! Prediction(as if no one has already made it): Powell and Megatron are in cahoots. Just a hunch.
All in all, for being a Decepticon-free episode, it was decent...Better than expected!

having spent 2 and a half years in tbe army i can't emphasize how many incompetent , arrogant officers there are in high command. i can so totally imagine a guy like sentinel prime being a high ranking officer, and part of some "elite guard".

I thought it was pretty funny when Bumblebee and Bulkhead were trying to figure out why Sari has no record of existance and one of them said maybe because she's a robot.
Anyone else think Sentinal Prime looks like knight? Lance, shield, even his helmet is knight-like, especially when he had his mask on. Maybe that's why his alt mode is snowplow. What better alt mode for a modern day robot jouster?

Well, this episode was a mixed bag, really.
On the one hand, Optimus finally got the laugh he deserved at Sentinel's sake and still took the high road. Glad to see he's honorable. (Sure, he laughed, but he could've used it as a weapon to destroy Sentinel.)
On the other, we get the HeadMaster coming back and I absolutely can't stand him. It's a shame it's a kid show, because I'd love to see one of the TransFormers just step on him and hear him scream just before the squish. (Yeah, I hate him that bad.)
The Sari subplot was handled quite nicely, considering the show. I'd still like to know why her father's company was wanted so badly by the chairman of the board. I get that greed was his main motivation, but what are his plans for it? I guess that's their way of getting us to tune in again and again to find out.
I'll give this episode a solid C+ but it wouldn't hurt 'em to try and leave the HeadMaster out of it from now on. He's such a disgusting waste of ink and animation time, it's not even funny.

Well, here we go again:
1. I can't help but love the writing in this episode. While I don't like most of the Headmaster's lines (Though I do like how he's a stereotypical Counter-Strike Junkie), I really like a lot of Sentinel's. Since he's such an arrogant douchebag, it makes it really easy to laugh at him.
2. Bulkhead and Bumblebee go through a whole list of possible ways Sari isn't human, one of which involves her being a Cabbage Patch Kid. Gotta love that reference.
3. "Yeah! I am so 1337!" "Oh yeah? Well I have no idea what that means!"
4. Sumdac Systems is becoming LexCorp. Oddly, the Headmaster helmet looks like a cartoon-y Galactus.
5. Fanzone seems to have really calmed down. While he still clearly doesn't like the Autobots, he's yelling and glaring a lot less, even just giving Sentinel a blank stare, where not long ago he'd be screaming his head off.
6. Headmaster's been given a blank check by Powell. He'll definitely be coming back at some point.
7. The ending of Sari's half of the episode was actually quite nice. Sentinel's, meanwhile, ended with him getting a big ol' slice of Humble Pie. So it was also nice.

I didn't bother to check youTube over the weekend because I thought it wouldn't be up as CN stated the episode would air next week. I totally forgot about yTV. I'll have to check tonight after I get home.

This ep could actually set up a long running story, because now we have a more constant threat from Powell.
The Headmaster has set up shop in Sumdac tower and will probably show up from time to time (mostly in the background I suppose).
Sari is on her quest to figure out who or what she is.
Sumdac is still a captive of Megatron, they'll have to get him back before the end of the season (where we'll probably hear about Sari's origin).
I think that Sentinel Prime will renew his friendship with Optimus, especially if he gets confronted with Black Arachnia.
All in all, this ep was better then I expected it would be. Especially the bit where Sentinel has to shake the mayor's hand was hilarious.

Just saw "Return" and have some comments.
Powell has definately defined himself as the unscrupulous buisness executive, willing to make a buck at any cost and use loopholes in the law to free his potential employees. Whether or not this means he'll be the Lex Luthor of this show remains to be seen.
Sari's transition from "living in luxury" to living at the abandoned factory with the Autobots was handled nicely. I'm surprised the writers chose to make Bulkhead and Bumblebee so utterly clueless. Sure, they probably wouldn't understand her emotional state after having lost her only home, but giving her garbage for dinner? I thought they were a little more schooled than that. And why did they wait so long to have Prowl set them straight?
Sentinel Prime definately gets his comeupance here. And I think Masterson made an critical, if inadvertant, error in judgement when he chose to hijack Sentinal's body. It gave Optimus both a chance to vent against all the abuse Sentinel has given him, and enjoy it in the meantime. I loved it when he ripped Sentinel's arm off...
Sentinel: "You... you ripped my arm off!"
Optimus: "It was trying to jam sheild spikes into my face!"

Yes, I really enjoy all his lines. All that Ownage and l33tness. It's very amusing.

You're right.
I have the Superhero Squad (Like Robot Heroes, but with Marvel characters) version of Galactus and he does look quite similar.
You can see him on
BBTS

You mean Fort Max. He's closer to the design than Scorpy. But yeah, the coloring is like Galactus.

eh... good filler Episode.

I dont know, the whole Headmaster thing is a very uninteresting aspect of the show for me. Especially since every line that the dude utters is filled with cheese
(maybe its me but Ive never heard anyone talk like that, I've never had any "emo" friends). I dont like that they are making the Headmaster Concept an Evil thing, and again where are the Con's? Why do they have such a Little role in the
"Transformers"? They are
"Transformers" too right!?
Now that Megs is Back on his feet yet still absent, I think Im over it.

Not. Even. Close. That's not emo, he'd be acting sad if he were emo. This is gamer speak, though it's not very common, and almost always frowned upon when not used as a joke. His demeanor and all of the terminology he uses heavily suggests he plays Counter-Strike, since that's how CS players stereotypically act.

Yes. They're hiding out, recuperating, and planning. They've got three active units, they just got beaten-down by maintenance-bots, and part of the Elite Guard just came to Earth. Megs is smart enough not to attack.

Yeah but whats wrong with having periodic scenes showing the Con's working on plans, figuring out a strategty, interacting with each other, Having some Dialouge, showing some Decepticon Story. They dont have have to be Fighting the Autobots just to have Screen time or be apart of the show. Just some plain old
"Meanwhile the Decepticons.........." and if the Writers were smart they would think of that.
They could Talk about what happened to Lockdoown or what the hell is going on with Blackarachina or hmmmm.......it has Been 50 Solar Cycles of them being Lost from the Leader while he was stuck on a planet without a body And they dont have any to say about what went on in that time. I wanna hear more on the Con's story.

Because to give Megatron a full minute in the episode would be a full minute that they CAN'T give to the actual story.

Thats not a good reason. There are plenty of things that they write in for the Con's. They could cut out all those scenes like them trying to make Sari bedroom or going Camping or telling Ghost stories or other rediculous Junk from any of the other Episodes and supplant it with Decepticon storyline. There's over 25 years of Decepticon TF history that they could pull from.
