No, I doubt it. Since they just released a live-action movie, and are about to release another, then the only chance of an animated movie would be direct-to-DVD.

Yup.. Shadowman is right. I wouldn't mind a Direct-to-DVD TF Animated Movie though.

I could live with that, maybe then they'd have the freedom to make it a little darker and more target the core audience

Except the core audiance is children . Always has been, always will be. What was that number, only like 15-20% of sales are from collectors? But that's still a sizeable number, and is why we are still getting comics. But I'm pretty sure a too-dark animated movie probably wouldn't make enough to warrent a release, cause even though the live action movie did extremely well, I'll bet it woudn't have done those numbers even if it was the exact same movie but in animation. However, if they did something along the lines of the kind of darkness we've been getting in Beast Wars/Machines and Animated at times, then it would probably work.

If Marvel and DC can pull off movies like the Ultimate Avengers, Doctor Strange, Iron Man, Justice League New Frontier all will decidedly more mature tones then why cant Hasbro do an animated Transformers based off IDW stories?

Marvel and DC didnt make those movies to sell comic book or action figures they did it to expand and grow their brands.

Oh, yes they did.

The purpose behind expanding/growing any brand is always to sell more merchandise, which in turn allows Hasbro, Marvel, DC, or any other company to achieve their only real goal: make more money.

Hasbro will take TransFormers in whatever direction proves to be most profitable, plain and simple. Let us hope that what is profitable also continues to be entertaining.
