Um...the show *is* 4:3 Pan & Scan, not 16:9 Widescreen. Only the opening credits have a 16:9 look to them, but that technically isn't a real letterbox. It's just the top and bottom of the screen cut off.

I'd love it to be in 16:9 but it's not. :(

I thought the show was done in a widescreen format, but clipped for standard. according to the Botcon panel :???:

I can't verify what was said at the panel since I didn't attend, but I can tell you that it comes through in 4:3 on every TV I have seen, including my 16:10 monitor.

If you watch it on a computer or HDTV, you can set it to 16:9, but it stretches everything and makes them look fat.

So, as far as I know, they're broadcasting in full screen.

If they are cutting it down...I'm not a happy camper. =\ I love Widescreen. The only true way to enjoy anything cinematic. (Works good for TV as well.)

I second that! They may be a space bridge repair crew at the beggining of the movie, but those two screencaps are hardly good representation of the awesomeness that is Transform and Rollout.

Not that I expected much though. The Free Comic Book day issue had the same not-so-stellar choice for content. Like, the most I-) parts.

Since I've already put the entire first season on DVD I may not be buying these. However...I might be suckered into doing so for the special features. I want to know what those two shorts are.

With our luck it will be the old BotCon clip and then that weird TV commercial with Sentinals severed head.

Pass on this, I don't like that they left out the pilot.

I'm gonna wait for an import.

Cool.
I like the front art, but it sucks how BB hogs the spotlight.

He's the most kid friendly of the entire group, so they're going to push him on the public like they did in the Movie.

The rest of the season without these first three episodes or a complete first season box set? If the only thing this has going for it is the shorts, I think I'd rather wait.

primeoptimus wrote:they could have picked better screen shots than that :-(

Honestly, I don't really see why that would matter so much.

Wha-huh? It's the movie/first three episodes isn't it?

No this is the pilot film that was shown on December 26th, 2007.

The rest of the first season will be separate and will debut on DVD later this summer.

This is the full 68 minute pilot. (If you open up Windows Magnifier, you'll clearly see the 68.)

Well if the pilot/first three episodes is being released by itself, then it's probably a fair bet that it won't be included in the actual Season 1 DVD when it arrives.
Good choice from a money-making point of view, but disappointing for the fans to have to buy two DVDs.

Anyone else notice Prowl's head is HUGE on the cover there?

I actually don't mind so much. As long as they don't try to stick us with a $50 price tag on the "everything else" set, that is.

That's what they did with JAG and NCIS. During the season 8/9 finale and premier, they made it abundantly clear that it was the pilot for NCIS (and they handled the spinoff aspect of it quite nicely.) but when you buy the first season of NCIS, the pilot isn't there. In fact it's not available on DVD at all. Not until JAG seasons 8 and 9 come to DVD because it's considered a JAG storyline. (Go figure.)

So, the fans are stuck spending $45.00 a piece on three seasons worth of TV just to get the pilot and the first season.

Fortunately, I don't think Paramount will screw us that bad. Although they are the ones who put JAG on the air...
