Looking for feedback on Incentive Cover idea

First, I want to put up this disclaimer: This is just an idea, I have not, nor will I endeavor to, approach IDW with this idea until I hear back from from the owner of Appocalypse Comics about this idea since they are the ones who the incentive cover is being made available to.
"The toes you step on today may be attached to the ass you may have to kiss tomorrow". They and IDW undoubtedly have better lawyers than I do.

That having been said, how do you fans feel about the idea of asking that the awsome new incentive cover be made available in a limited market, both stateside and in other countries, at a higher price, with the extra cost going to a charity of the Coller family's choosing or (in the U.S.) the American Cancer Society and to other such related charities in the respected countries in which the book is purchased. Casey did an awsome thing slipping the tribute to his sister into the incentive cover, not to mention an astounding job on the cover in general. I think that we, as fans and decent human beings in general, should do no less to honor his sister and all the families that have had to deal with such a loss, than to take his work to a higher level and show our support. I lost an uncle to cancer several years back and have seen what my Aunt and cousins had to go through. It's hard for everyone involved.

This is just an idea, I'm only looking for fan feedback right now, and obviously proper channels have to be strictly followed due to exisisting contracts and agreements or someone, namely me for thinking of it, could get his pants sued off if somone takes exception to it. But I think, at this time, that it would be a good idea and a situation where all involved could benefit. If and when I hear back from the owner of Appocalypse Comics I'll let you all know what has been determined from that end.

I do ask, again, that nobody try to follow up on this and that you only supply feedback as there could be serious reprecussions if this is not done to the letter and with utmost respect to the agreements of all parties involved. I probably shouldn't even bring it up but something in my heart/gut told me that this is a just cause and I feel compelled, however foolishly, to try.

T.

I'm all for that! I'd pay a little extra for something worthwhile

It's a solid idea that would be nice to see happen.

Fans get a cool cover design, and the selected charity would get money to help those in need.

Maybe if they are no willing to make the comic available the parties involved would be willing to look at making the image into a special run of posters with the same intent of funds going to charity.

Good thinking T-Mack.

Well, I have been in contact with Mario, the Owner of Appcoalypse Comics. Comes across as a real nice guy and gave me some good ideas.
Unfortunately, he is unable either space wise or financially to handle a sudden influx of orders for that particular cover and, contractually, the entire issue of the use of that cover is between him, IDW and Casey. While he loved my idea, he is just not in a position to up the quantity of the order and try to handle the contract/charity/ increased distribution aspects. His shop is a one man show.
This doesn't mean that I'm giving up, that's just not in my nature.
I'm just going to have to approach this from a different angle.
The doors are locked, the windows are locked...time to squeeze my scrawny butt down a chimney! There's a chance I can get the guys from the Emerald City Comic-Con behind me on this one, but I would have to find a way to make it very easy and low-cost/low-impact for them.
Thanks for the support and I'll keep ya posted.
