That and Prime was in a pretty heavy fight, and Magnus was originally going to be quartered and not shot.

Even the courage and the power of the almighty Optimus Prime didn't stand a rat's chance against the unstoppable might of Hasbro's Marketing Division. Even Megatron (by extension)got his ass handed to him by them. :P

Hot Rod was whispering to Megatron exactly where to aim.

I do have to agree that while taking out a majority of the 1984 lineup was considered a necessary evil on Hasbros part, the way in which it happened for some of them was beyond lame. Prime gets shot multiple times by Soundwave and Seekers as he's going all road-rage, plowing through everyone (awsome scene) and it doesn't even scratch his finish but Prowl gets taken out with a single shot through the headlight with a Constructicon weapon?? Brawn I could believe just because Meagtron was the weapon fired at him but no way Prowl should have dropped like that. Admittedly it was a cool scene as far as how it was drawn, just crappy to see one of my favorites dropped by a peon with 1 shot. At least Ironhide held on long enough to get served a face full of Plasma energy.

Yea I dont know why the Powers at Hasbro decide 2 kill just about every character from the 1st 3 season cause I remember when I was kid and watching the movie that i didnt paid the dead autobots corpses no mind(except 4 Prowl and Ironhide  ) but now that i watch it again....I didnt even know Wheeljack and Mirage was kill as well since as well since Arcee try 2 drag their Dead bodies some where safe whenb the Cons attack the city.

But over all the movie was still good but Springer should ax Hot Rod 4 tryin 2 steal his girl tho

I hate to sound like an overly critical, nitpicky fanboy but that was Windcharger (or what was left of him) that Arcee laid next to Wheeljack. And I only bring it up because you actually succeeded in causing my brain to tweak in panic for 3/4 of a sec. Mirage was/is one of my fave's and I actually had to resist the urge to swivel my chair and reach for the movie as my brain was simultaneously replaying that portion of the battle. It was a harsh scene for some of us older fans who saw it on the big screen. Just watching all of our favorites in general start to fall was tough. I remember having to bite my tongue when Brawn fell cause an expletive almost came out of me while I was in the midst of all these children and a handful of parents. (I was in my teens by then)

The cool part about todays technology is that, thanks to my friends digital projector, I got to play the movie for my own kids on a 54" x 76" section of wall. Not quite a theatre screen but still impressive with my surround system. So I got to watch their jaws drop like mine did during that battle sequence. The impact was the same as it was in '86. And yeah, I had to do a little damage control with my youngest son after the movie and assure him that Prime returns later. He was probably to young to let watch the film but I was prepared going into it.

There was alot about the 86 movie that HASBRO wishes they could have a do over with.

But it was the 80's. Leg warmers were still in fashion.

I actually thought that was what happened when I first watched it.

3 wishes about this movie:

1. That they would've left in the scene where most of the Autobots are shown getting owned/destroyed in battle.

2. That the battle between Megatron and Prime was longer.

2. Some company would step up and re-make this movie (with very similar animation, only improved), including said scenes.
