Derrick Wyatt, the Art Director and Lead Character Designer for the Transformers: Animated series has updated his blog "A Delightful Tedium" with some interesting images and information regarding the concept design for the Transformers: Animated character Lockdown.

As Derrick himself states:
"When I first read his description in the script, I pictured him being much more of a lumbering Frankenstein monster type, made up of stolen parts looted from other Cybertronians." with an original concept drawing of Lockdown to boot.

To check out the image of Wyatt's first version of Lockdown, you can head on over to his blog, by clicking here.

I think the Lockdown that we got is the best. That first rendition looks like a boss character from a game that get killed off in the first fight not a villan that could come back.

Yikes, I'm glad we have the Lockdown we all know and love. I still wish his face was different though. I don't like the whole almost white face with black tribal looking stuff on it.

Not that I mind black lines on the face, Megatron is currently wearing them quite well. :P

That looks like a mummy out of Todd McFarlane's laboratory. Thank goodness for redesigns!

It's really neat to see what their original idea for Lockdown, was. I also agree that they made the better choice by going with the final product.

I have to wonder if the original is what helped them spawn the idea for Oil Slick, because he's just as ugly and lanky.

I'd hate to see what some of their other early draft designs were...yech.

ewwww, that looks gross!

I'm glad they went with the version we have now!

but I really like getting this stuff just to see what they first pictured them as.

Agreed! Oil Slick is nasty looking. His name is stupid too. What is it supposed to mean, that he leaks oil? That's like naming a human Skid Mark.

Good thing Lockdown didn't end up like him!
