Why was Swoop's alt-mode considered "horrifying"?

Was there any particular reason for this unusual statement?
If anyone was ugly, it was those Monsterbots... Now they had hideous alt-modes.

It's because flying reptiles of the order Pterosauria are considered symbols of erectile disfunction in Cybertronian culture.

Maybe he subjects his foes to screenings of Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds then transforms and well, the rest is self explanetory.
or else as shown in Marvel UK's Robocapers strip - "Dinobot Droppings!"
Maybe the wind changed as he scanned an Earth mode and now he's used as an example to young Autobots prone to goofing around.
