Hi all,

Long time fan, but new to the board. I had a few very n00bish comics questions I was hoping I could get some help with.

What's the best way to complete my G1 comics run? I have through about issue 60. I understand there's a re-release going on? Or is there perhaps somewhere I can read them online?

What are some good Simon F. graphic novels to start with? Is there a "start" to them? Which ones follow which? Ones in a continuity of themselves? Which are collections of which series? So lost.

Thanks a lot :) I know this is very n00bish of me but I'm having a difficult time tracking down this information any other way. :???:

I'm not entirely sure about the G1 reissues because there seems to have been several and I'm not sure myself where to start with those...

But as for Simon Furman...I personally think War Within is a great place to start, though it relates more to G1 than the new "IDW-verse"...It's a damn good story about the beginning of the Autobot/Decepticon civil war on Cybertron...An Omnibus edition of the first two volumes (the third was never finished due to Dreamwave going bankrupt) is coming out in Feburary.

For the IDW books, the core series goes in this order:

Infiltration
Stormbringer (which actually takes place parallel to Infiltration)
Escalation
Devastation
Revelation (TPB supposedly due out out in Feb)

Now you can read those and it's all fine and good but there are a ton of supplamental Spotlight issues that are inserted throughout the series, and if you miss out on those you'll be missing some pretty signifigant chunks of the story. Wikipedia has everything listed in the following chronology and on my second read through the series I followed it and found it to be a very delightful order in which to read them. (I'll add the TPB volume numbers for the spotlight issues to make it easier)

1-4. The Thirteen #1-4 (unpublished)
5-8. Megatron Origin #1-4
9. Spotlight - Blurr
10. Spotlight - Shockwave (Spotlight Vol 1)
11. Spotlight - Soundwave (Spotlight Vol 2)
12. Spotlight - Wheelie (Spotlight Vol 3)
13. Spotlight - Cosmos (unpublished)
14. Spotlight - Hot Rod (Spotlight Vol 1)
15. Spotlight - Sixshot (Spotlight Vol 1)
16. Spotlight - Ultra Magnus (Spotlight Vol 1)
17-20. Infiltration #0-3
21-23. Stormbringer #1-3
24-25. Infiltration #4-5
26. Stormbringer #4
27. Infiltration #6
28. Spotlight - Kup (Spotlight Vol 2)
29-32. New Avengers/Transformers #1-4
33-34. Escalation #1-2
35. Spotlight - Nightbeat (Spotlight Vol 1)
36.-39. Escalation #3-6
40. Spotlight - Ramjet (Spotlight Vol 2)
41. Spotlight - Optimus Prime (Spotlight Vol 2)
42. Spotlight - Galvatron (Spotlight Vol 2)
43-46. Devastation #1-4
47. Spotlight - Blaster (Spotlight Vol 3)
48. Spotlight - Arcee (Spotlight Vol 3)
49-50. Devastation #5-6
51. Spotlight - Mirage (Spotlight Vol 3)
52. Spotlight - Grimlock (Spotlight Vol 3)
53. Spotlight - Revelation #1 - Cyclonus
54. Spotlight - Revelation #2 - Hardhead
55. Spotlight - Revelation #3 - Doubledealer
56. Spotlight - Revelation #4 - Sideswipe
57-61. Maximum Dinobots #1-5 (currently unfinished)
62-73. All Hail Megatron #1-12 (currently unfinished)

Hope this helps orient you a bit :)

The problem comes from this: Marvel owned the rights to the comics about 20 years ago. In the USA they released 80 issues, then it stopped. In the UK they brought out a total of 332. Simon Furman did over half of the UK ones and a large chunk of US ones.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Transf ... rvel_comic)

So if you have 60 of the US comics, you're in luck. 60 of the UK ones... There are a few reprinted UK stories being brought out by IDW as part of their run on the TF license. Such fan favourites as the Dinobots storyline and the Time Wars (I think) storylines. They're also bringing out their own comics, starting from issue 1 and so far running in mini-series mode. Well, All-Hail is a maxi-series...

These are almost all written by Simon Furman.

So, to complete your "Simon Furman" run, you'll need a lot of money...
