I always wondered about the Quintessons...................

After warching the TF's movie over & over again, I wondered what the pit was up w/the Quintessons. Why is it that in their trials that if a victim is found innocent they are fed to the Sharkticons? I never quite undersstood that. I would've thought that their hatred for the TF's would make them all guilty, just because of the fact that they merely existed. Sooooo.......does that mean if they're guilty on Quintessa that they're free to go?

I think it works like this...

Judge 1: Next convict
Judge 2: Hmmm let's take a look at your record
Judge 2: Hmm no record at all, did no time, never commited a felony or crime. That's impossible
Judge 3: So you are saying he's innocent
Judge 1: Naw naw that's impossible. He's had to do as so much as shoplifed a pint sized bag of energon or pushed down a defenless droid to prove a point
Judge 2: I'm lookin I'm lookin but see nothing. According to this he has a wife and kids, owns his own small buisness, does charity work and is moral conservative hmmm
Judge 3: So he's innocent
Judge 2: Apparently
Judge 1: will this ruins our fun then. We can't drop him in unless he's guilty
Judge 3: BAH! Screw it we'll be asses and claim it's opposite day. Sides weakling innocents have a tendency to whimper, cry and fear in death unlike guilty heartless criminals
Judge 2: Good point, it's more satisfying
Judge 1: Yes indeed
GUILTY OR INNOCENT?
INNOCENT!
FEED HIM TO THE SHARKTICONS!

a little far fetched, but i like it. to be honest i dont think they care whether they're guilty or inocent, just that they want to destroy them.

Exactly, it's just a sadistic joke. Give the victim a split second of hope before they kill him.

It's all irony. Either way, you're going in the pit.
It's sorta like Gladiatorial fighting, without the battle, just the death.

Speaking of which, when Kranix falls in, after he says, "I'm doomed!" and the Sharkticons start tearing him up, I could ave sworn I heard, "****!" as the poor fellow's getting eaten alive.

That's exactly it. It's a cruel, sadistic joke, designed to give the impression that the Quintessons are not friendly fellows. Remember the names of their faces: "War", "Wrath", "Death", etc.

It's simple really, if you're guilty of being part of the rebellion on cybertron (kup and hotrod were innocent on account of being created after) then you are a traitor and shall be put to death. If you're innocent, then you can die with a clear concience.

I like the Quintessons as agents of evil, but I never liked the origin lines where they created the Transformers. Just never seemed to jive...

SEems to me they have a mockery of our judgemental law.

Or perhaps they like to make their own law, whether you are guilty or innocent, you stil become food to SHARKTICONS.Altough Grimlock and Dinobots proved that Sharkticons are easily talked into switching sides......cowardly swimming chickens......

I think it was at the end of a season 3 episode where it talks about the Quintison trials, and i think the line is something like "guilty or innocent, the end is the same: death."

The fact that they are found "innocent", and sentenced to death is an attempt at wry humor. It is dark humor. I always thought the Quintessons added another facet to the TF universe. The former slave owners who are now relegated to second-class citizen status by their former creations, the TFs.

I don't think the Qs get enough air time, and as unpopular as it is, I always loved the post-movie universe in it's own right. I thought the Japanese continuation of G1 was the maturation of G1 itself. No, I prefered Prime as the Supreme Commander of the Autobots. But I thought Galvatron was a great evolution of Megatron, and highly underrated also. If the G1 cartoon would have continued in the US, I have no doubt that "Powermaster Optimus Prime" was to be the direct nemesis to Galvatron. Had the series continued in the US, that is.

A bit off topic, but I feel it all relates to the post-movie universe, of which the Quintessons are, and in my opinion have always been, an integral part.

Exactly.

I know this may seem like a dumb question, but what exactly are the Quintessans? Are they a form of robot, or are they a semi flesh-and-blood alien encased in a metallic shell?

The 'toon never explained. The obvious answer is that they're sentient robots too, but I think the later comic stuff has portrayed them as techno-organic. But they're definitely not Daleks.

I wonder what a Quintesson origin would be like? :???:

They are judging whether or not a robot was a member of the Cybertronian Resistance that defeated them and drove them from Cybertron.

Finding a robot innocent of this, though, does not get rid of their bias toward robots and, therefore, they let the Sharkticons devour those robots that were not part of the Resistance.

If they were to find a member of the Resistance, then my guess would be that they would torture that TF/robot for all eternity in ways that our organic minds can not comprehend.
