Very solid opening issue.

We see the beginning of the rift between Prime and Megatron. Prime just wants to do his job while Megatron is stressed out and a little paranoid and resentful with his myriad of responsibilities. Prime is autonomous with his duties but clearly a subordinate to Megatron.

Artifacts are being dug up with many of them broken but one monument is intact with what is now the Decepticon symbol on it and it is giving off energy like the Allspark does (Dead Space anyone?). Prime wants to study while Megatron wants it dug up now.

Cybertron is attacked by aliens wanting an energy source which is the Allspark.

Megatron has the artifact sent back to his home(?) in the city of Trypticon.

Megatron is badly wounded backing up Cliffjumper and Bumblebee who were guarding the Allspark.

He tells Starscream to finish off the aliens and slumps back home and passes out in front of the artifact as he was scraping away the dirt off of it revealing the Decepticon symbol (how it got more crust on it than was seen at the dig site is beyond me. I'll chalk it up to artist error)

It is implied at the end that something took the opportunity to "possess" Megatron as he passed out.

Liking this as much as i have the rest of Mowery's work. I'm excited to see how this unfolds. I haven't really heard much about this series prior to getting it so i'm pretty open to it going anywhere. Only thing is Optimus looks a little funny, especially his face. Otherwise i'm enjoying the art.

Hell, that was the first Movie comic that I truely enjoyed, aside from some UK stuff, but this is more solid, with clearer images. I'm waiting its continuation.
