very cool... I like movieverse prowl... though it seems as though Megatron would not have created the decepticons without the fallen's intervention which kinda takes the wind from his sails as a menacing character imo

Im trying to figure out whether the artifact is a portal or some sort or a prison.

It seems that they are setting up Megatron not to be the real leader of the Decepticons. Megatron calls The Fallen "master" and the Decepticons that come to Earth in Alliance #3 talk about their "master." They know Megatron is "dead" so they must be talking about The Fallen. Megatron's title seems to be Lord Megatron since Starscream usurped it during ROS.

Maybe Megatron betrayed The Fallen at some point.

Defiance is shaping up to be the best of the movieverse comics.

The question on my mind is whether Megatron is being controlled by The Fallen or is The Fallen merely influencing Megatron?

Anyway, the last page of the preview clearly shows that the golden triangle is The Fallen's way of communicating from whatever fiery realm or place he is (imprisoned) and I'm guessing that it's one or all of the ancient Egyptian pyramids in Giza that was seen in Issue #2 of Defiance.

That is exactly what I think they are doing. I think The Fallen has possessed Megatron in a Dracula and Renfield way. In issue 1 they portray Megatron as a General who wants to protect Cybertron. After the Fallen contacted Megatron his behaviour changed in issue 2 to what we saw in the movie. The thing that isn't clear is why the other Decepticons changed to Megatron(Fallen)'s point of view no questions asked.

It is kind of like how Darth Vader was The menacing bad guy in Star Wars, but then in ESB, he was kneeling before and emperor, which took some wind out of his sails.

but at least we don't have to worry about seeing an obnoxious young megatron with a bowl cut  (though with Bay you never know...)
