Current State of the IDW-Verse...

So, the main IDW-verse thread is so old and so long that I Find it difficult to participate in the conversation. So, I started a new one. I really hope this doesn't get me Flamed...

...If so, I've got Two bigass Missiles on my shoulders, so WHAT? Bring It! :P

So, to the Point. I think that the IDW-verse is GREAT so far! I just re-read the entire thing over the last week and I have to say that I'm really waiting for those last 2 issues of AHM; The Suspense is killing me! =P~ I just hope the story ends as well as it began. Everything about this modern-day reboot of the Franchise is just awesome to me. I am kinda missing Unicron, and I'm apparently in the minority on that. I understand that it's been done and done and done. But, I dig the 'Unicron thing'. I'd really like to see it done with the spectacular art we've been getting from The various IDW series(AHM #9 notwithstanding)! Max Dinos was awesome; tho, I thought it ended a bit to abruptly for my taste... probably because The Fur is used to writing 6-issue arcs... But I'm very anxious to see what happened to Shockwave after all that! And, if we see any Autobot Combiners now that the Decepticons have perfected the technology(LOVED the way they brought that about, btw)! And, if we'll see Quintessons after Wheelie's Spotlight(Which was also awesome), and what they'll be like! I'm wondering what the Monsterbots did that was so bad that they were "Outcasts"... And, what happened to Galvatron(Because I seem to remember him surviving after his encounter with Prime)... The way the Micromasters were brought about, the new interpretation of Pretender Tech, how Ratbat was a Senator, and Soundwave just turned him into a Cassette in like 2 quick moves, the way Megatron was once a normal dude, driven crazy by corporate downsizing(I'm from Michigan, so I've seen what losing your job can do to people)... The reinterpretation of Arcee, Ultra Magnus(obviously), and Blurr... Drift is SO badass it almost hurts; FINALLY a real Transformer Samurai(Prowl from Animated doesn't count, and Bludgeon transforms into a Tank, so he doesn't count either)! Hat's off all around. Didn't think the Avengers crossover was that cool but... *SHRUG*

Anyways, I'm totally into the IDW-verse. I'm glad to see Transformers being done the way they deserve. DW sure did try, but they dropped the Ball. I think IDW is doing an amazing job with the series, and I know there's even more good stuff down the road.
:APPLAUSE: B-)

Personally, As far as IDW's work has gone, I've enjoyed the Megatron Origin, Dinobots and AHM.

With the exception of a few of the spotlights (taken as one-offs) I just don't care for the overall story, and the art in many arcs, also in the case of some of their original designs for established characters, I find them awful if not needless.

Look at Bumblebee for example, who has a number of choices to base a design on, and instead they go for what IMHO looks like was modeled off the original Bugbite deluxe Gobot toy.

I know they had to move completely away from what DW was trying to do, and the idea of giving Simon Furman a chance back on the reigns was nice. But I would rather see what would have happened to the DW storylines than another -tion story arc.

I have absolutely ADORED the IDW-verse...Is it perfect? Well, no...I thought the magic-eightball-like "Magnifisence" was pretty silly (though the Doubledealer Spotlight was AWESOME)...And I was a little disappointed with how quickly the Nemesis-Prime storyline seemed to wrap up...But overall, I've really really loved the series...

AHM was pretty cool though, like most people, I really want to see how it ties in with everything else...

Haven't read Max Dinos yet because I'm waiting for the TPB...

I too would like to see Unicron, but I can understand why they aren't doing it...I was put off at first the Galvatron wasn't Megatron, but once I got used to the idea I didn't mind at all and I REALLY like how they've handled the character...Actually, I like how they've handled pretty much ALL of the characters...

I absolutely loved the idwverse so much that I have everything that's part of it and am only missing Spotlight Cyclonus.
I loved the redesigns and the plot stuff it kinda made me proud of being part of something awesome, something that I haven't felt with comics back when Spider-Man was still good.
For me the idw verse ended with Max Dinos, which makes me wish for Furman's original future plans for the series of Revelations and Expansion would have come to fruition. I mean we missed out on a full scale battle between Optimus, Nemesis and Galvatron for 12 issues of pretty pictures pretending to be a story?

I'll just have to wait for the next comic company that will have the licence.

God dammit I want to see that Superpower battle!

Ok Ultra Magnus, you read the entire IDW run thus far last weekend... the suspense is killing me....

What was your reading order? :)

I've seen reading orders kicked around a bit but what was yours and would you have switched any parts after having gone through it?

I actually don't get all this read it in a particular order stuff at the moment. I just read them as they came and was able to follow the story nicely.
I still don't get why Whaaglord's comic guide still isn't sticky jet, must set that right.

I love most of it, but I've fallen behind with AHM. It was pretty slow and I eventually got out of Transformers completely for a few months (I tend to overdo it). I'm catching up with a couple Spotlights and will get the TPBs of AHM and see if it gets any better.

I certainly appreciate everyone's views, and the Franchise seems to be doing rather well under the wing of IDW... I just wish we didn't have to wait till after the Movie to finish AHM and get into the next series...

well lucky for you Ultra Magnus, you don't. :) There's going to be AHM:Coda, which looks like it'll have some background and forward looking stories over the late summer as well as a couple of spotlights. So while the summer will be slow for G1 stuff, we're not being left high and dry at least.

The Maximum Dinobots trade paperback will be released in late July or early August. I ordered my copy in December (via Amazon.com)!

It was good to read recently that the AHM Coda will not only wrap up loose ends from AHM/Max Dinos but will also bridge in to the next story arc from IDW. That just about made my day.

As far as this IDW continuity as a whole, I just can't get enough. I'm like an Insecticon eating it up, with that same type of appetite.
