Jetfire never were a Decepticon?

yeah, that brought you attention right? :P

well, i just watched one of the G1 episodes and i stumbled upon the one with jetfires origin storie. now people always say that he was a decepticon but thats not completley true...
in the beginning of the episode the Decepticons find a transformer under the ice. starscream tells the decepticons that its Jetfire, his old friend that he lost on earth BEFORE the transformers were split up in Autobots and Decepticons. Jetfire still thinking that the Decepticons are good and the Autobots are evil capture some humans, gets sad, gets angry, and kills starscream. afterwards he becomes a Autobot, just in time to get a massive iceblock on himself and freezes to ice again.
that means Jetfire wasnt a Decepticon because there were no such thing as decepticons back then.

Not Jetfire, but Skyfire.
He joined the Cons after he was defrozen and whore their symbol so yea he was a Decepticon. H did not kill Starscream, he knocked him out. Starscream dies in the Movie after Galvatron shoots him.

And yet the cartoon calls him Skyfire, Jetfire was just a toy and a crummy comic character.
And Jetfire starts out as a Decepticon in every form of G1 except the idw verse.

Didn't Shockwave build Jet/Skyfire in the 80s Marvel comics? I don't exactly rememeber but he was initially a Con and then switched over.

Shockwave built Jetfire in the comics to be the "ultimate Decepticon" by using an imprisoned Optimus Prime's Matrix (which he didn't have) to bring him to life. But Jetfire was never truly alive, so we can't really call him a Decepticon. Maybe a drone, but he didn't do things of his own free will.

I dont know about the UK comics, I meant the US Marvel ones. Rodimus there explained it for me though. I didn't rememebr the drone part, but I do rememebr Shockwave using the Matrix to create him...wasn't Prime a disembodied head at that point? And I do rememeber the newly made Jetfire was supposed to be a super weapon but he was later converted to the Autobots.....they gave him the Autobot symbol and there was that speech...."May your luster never fade and your finish never dim" or something like that, right?

In the Cartoon... Skyfire (jetfire) was a Decepticon. Remember he ripped the Decepticon badge off and said "NOW I AM A LOSER AUTOBOT HAHAHA"

Skyfire is cool! Toy is awesome.

He can call him Skyfire if he wants to.

In fact, I refuse to call the G1 cartoon character "Jetfire". He will always be "Skyfire" to me.

When I think of "Jetfire", I think of the Unicron Trilogy character, or the fiery Animated twin to Jetstorm, or the elderly bot in the ROTF movie.

To me, the only "G1 Jetfire" there is is the Robotech redeco toy who never made in into major fiction, the Marvel Comics character who used the Skyfire character model, and any other G1 comic character who resembled the G1 toy or the Skyfire model.

Not to mention that G2 Jetfire is the same guy as Skyfire, having gained a new body and renamed himself at some point (this takes place in the Japanese continuity).

Well, the problem is, while I would agree with you that they're basically the same guy, lots of people around here disagree. And trust me, the Skyfire adherents are a passionate bunch who will tell you for days and days about the difference between the 'two'.

My love to you Skyfire people, I always enjoy the conversation. :D

Yeah, those ROBOTECH designers sure knew what they were doing! :P

Before I knew it would ever be a collectible, years and years back I repainted my Jetfire into a VF-1S. I still have it to this day. The only piece left from my original collection.

*And here you probably thought the name/faction were the only things to debate with this toy*
