I'll go ahead and represent the third group.
The ones that like both.

But anyway, please continue. :)

Exactly.

It'll be interesting to see the results of those who are partial though, since both series have their fans and haters.

I like Animated. It had a few bad moments in it but was overall a good story line.

I hate the movie. Allthough the story line is better than Armada it's still the second worst story line. Allthough it doesn't even focus on the Transformers that much. It's really a human reaction to giant robots story not a story of the giant robots.

One thing I do like about both is the cameos allthough the movie only had 2 to speak of haveing not seen ROTF yet. Peter Cullen returning to Optimus Prime and G1 Bumblebee's alt mode showing up in the car lot next to Movie Bumblebee.

And something I hate about both is the designs. There are verry few designs in the movie or animated that I like and it's actully a verry short list to tell you what designs I did like.

Movie

Optimus Prime

Barricade

I'll update this when I see more of the ROTF character designs so far I still don't like any of them except for these two.

Animated

Megatron

Blitzwing

Rodimus Prime

Jazz

Wreck-Gar

Ultra Magnus

And Prowl with his Samurai Armor (hate him without it.)

So I basically hated most of the main cast.

And the fourth group that hate both and want to kill the creators and directors. :P

I'm more a fan of the movie. I didn't like Animated animation style, nor did I like that style being used on the toys.

Movie toys however are nice, I just really hate the heads.

I've done some searching and I can't find 1 single ROTF design that I like.

Sideways has a nice TOY design but his movie design looks like <BLEEP>.

I'm in that group too.

Of course, I prefer Animated. It had a stronger cast of characters that actually had a purpose. The plot was pretty good, however they still left a few dangling threads. There were plenty of surprises, and it was fun show overall. Also, it was written for all ages, and I like that. Definitely a show for Transformer fans, specially with all the random nods. Grandus all the way!

The movie on the other hand, while still fun, is written more for a general widespread audiance. I can understand someone who knows only of Transformers from the movies not really liking Animated, or the AEC Trilogy. Gee, a movie fan might not even be too big on G1.

But hey, if there's one thing the movie does have that hasn't been implemented into any of the Animated series(yet), it's action packed, well, action.

there also seems to be a group of people who are tired of anything g1. they dont like the old characters anymore and want to see a whole new story. wich im fine with. if the movie ran off the same continuity as after or before g1. not blowing g1 to bits.

For what it's worth, I'll throw my hat into the Animated crowd. I didn't like the first live action movie and I have no interest in seeing RotF. I certainly don't hate the movie style; it's just not my thing.

TFA on the other hand really appeals to me. The characters have so much personality and I love all the little nods to all of the other TF universes. The series had some really refreshing twists on existing characters and introduced some great new characters (Lugnut, Lockdown & dare I say Sari) that I'd love to see reincarnated in new ways in other lines.

To be fair, I do think Blackout was a really cool character design from the movie and I was pleased to see a cameo of him in TFA.

it took till the end of season 2 for me to like tfa. Now i like it. the toys are actually really nice and more fun than any others i have bought. Lock downs and swindle are great. soundwave rocks too.

the movie is alright. rotf does the "tornado camera" way too much, and the toys look like prime stole their faces.
