This thread is to commemorate the nifty extra gadgets that were used in G-1 only once and were never again seen!
Two that come readily to mind are the Borg-like square shield that Megs had in his forearm that he used to deflect Starscream's treacherous attack, and the Gundamesque energy melee weapons that both Prime and Megs used atop the dam in More than Meets the Eye".
What "one use only" gadgets have you noticed in G1?

Here's another one:
That guided micro-missile that Rumble fired out of his exhaust port while retreating in Auto-Berzerk. The missile flew down several corridors and finally tagged Red Alert in the back. How many times would that weapon have come in handy in other battles?

The Transfixatron comes to mind. It was an interesting device whose concept of locking one in their altmodes would be touched on again and again.

Here's a few more nifty built-in appliances from just "MtMtE":

Thundercracker's flamethrower that he attacked Bee and Wheeljack with on Cybertron.

Hound's mini-parabolic listening device concealed in a panel on his forearm.

Laserbeak's remote cannon drone that he split off when pursuing Hound and Cliffjumper.

Brawn's wrist-mounted welding torch.

Jazz and Prowl's arm mounted net launchers that they used to capture Ravage.

Starscream's slingshot that he used at the hydroelectric dam. Though why a massive robot equipped with lasers, missiles, and null-rays would resort to a slingshot is anyone's guess.

And these are just in the first couple episodes!

I miss the idea that Transformers had character-specific powers and could adapt to the point where they could simply sprout a useful tool at any time of need.
You don't really get that anymore.

The blue dot on Megatron's tummy turned out to be a dial for a communicator at one point in the G1 show.

The two little triangles on his "collar bone" area have also blinked while he was communicating with someone back at 'Con base.

How bout that ineffective table saw blade weapon that Megs threw at Op in Transport to Oblivion, and the laser cannon nozzle that followed right behind it?

Of course, on Divide and Conquer, Optimus fires lasers out of his optics. Pretty sure he never does that again.

How about the missile pods that were in Starscream's chest? I'm pretty sure they were only seen once...

and its a shame that Megatron and Optimus only used their laser mace/axes once... they were pretty epic weapons!

Yes, but all these have been immortalized in their Masterpiece figures.

It seems like every 1st season G1 character produced some do-hickey or just unknown feature out of the blue.

A few that haven't been mentioned:

1) Soundwave's arm turning into a a mixer of some sort.
2) Many Autobot cars would have open panels that revealed guns in alt mode or would just seem to shoot lasers out of their headlights.
3) You know, Thundercracker's sonic boom ability was part of his bio, but I think it was only mentioned once by Starscream when he said "must he make that blasted noise" or something to that effect.

There are numerous other instances I can't think of.....

Jazz's hand winch and sonic boom projectors on his waist in "Nightbird" episode.

Reissue Megatron had the mace.

Robotmasters Prime had the axe.

The Robotmasters Seekers had the chest launchers.

In MTMTE, Skywarp could spray fire retardent foam.

Hot Rod had the buzzsaw in the Movie and on the Mega SCF toy.

Blurr had the welder in the movie.
