I just got the latest Transformers Collectors' Club Magazine. They have a great two page article talking about the War For Cybertron. There is one VERY INTERESTING comment made by the TCC interviewer. See if this comment means the same to you as I took it. If it is true, this could be a very awesome cartoon series!

Quoting it word for word the first part of it: "Since the new cartoon and toyline are the inspiration for the video game..."

Chances are the cartoon will be set on Earth. It'll probably loosely tie in with the game so kids don't have to play it to understand.

It's a good idea, playing out the new story across multiple mediums.

I think this is highly possible. It is more likely that Hasbro would release a toyline based on a cartoon and a game rather than solely on a game. Plus the game would sell much better if there was a cartoon series to link it into. This would be financially beneficial for the franchise.

Eh, I caught that too, but I wouldn't take it as solid gold just yet.

I DO think it's highly likely that that a no-humans/pre-Earth video game could serve as the prequel for a humans-aplenty/Earth-bound show, though.

If there is no cartoon tie-in, I'm under the belief that Hasbro is testing the waters with trying to do a toyline for one of their franchise's video games with a smaller distribution through typical places that would carry video game figures (TRU, Hot Topic, whatever else fits that bill), and some kind of exclusive Optimus preorder from Gamestop (like a metallic version). The only way I could see these being availiable at regular retail stores is if they were under the Universe catch-all umbrella, with the "War for Cybertron" tagline.

But I could be wrong, and I hope I am, because then it increases the chances for all of us to get these awesome-looking War Within/Megatron: Origin-inspired toys.

It is entirely possible that due to the similar look of the Animated and WFC Megatron, that they are referencing the Animated series, and the various Cybertronion designs shown in that series.

Plus we do know from the casting sessions for the next cartoon under development, that it will have human characters, as VA's are auditioning for them.

I also personally find it strange that they would develop the game that should see a release soon to co-inside with the toys, and have it in reference to a cartoon that is still months if not over a year away.

However, If my thoughts on the matter are off base, than a cartoon in the same style as the game could be quite interesting.
