Yeah, so previously, i was steering as far clear of that kiddy crap attempt at marketing new toys and due to some of the normal Seibertron regulars, you guys said a few times, "Its a great series, just watch it."
Well, i still can't stand season 1, BUT half way through Season 2 and all of Season 3, i kept asking myself, "Why?" Why didn't they come out this good in season 1 and produce some of the awesome, character rich, story developing, well-written (and animated) goodness that this last 1 and half seasons was???
That whole "Sari" angle was good. At first ya think, "Damn, just another stupid 'trying to fit it with the younger crowd B/S'", but then she turns out awesome and instead of being some dumb weak girl there for young children to identify with, she becomes an actual benefit to the team and really kinda takes on a different role.
I know she has the allspark key, and yeah, that was important, but after you find out about the big secret in season 2, wow...just wow. I'll take Sari over Kicker any day.
I know i'm late here, but man, i really can say it sucks that this series is done.
So if yer like me and had some major issues with the cartoony presentation, just begin with season 3 or halfway through 2. Its definitely worth it.

I didn't watch the series when it was first on - the joys of not having proper cable. xD
But...I agree. At first, I wasn't sure what to make of the series, but after having given it a chance, I was thrilled with what they came up with. My inner BW fan rejoiced at the appearances by Blackarachnia, Waspinator, and Rattrap. The story arcs were smart, the characters worked together well, and I found myself enjoying a series like I hadn't since BW. (No, it wasn't quite the same...but it was close, at least! ^^)
I liked the way that Prowl went out. Very noble, very heroic. It fit his character nicely, IMHO. It's just too bad the series didn't last any longer - I felt like it was just starting to pick up speed.
I also agree with the Sari vs Kicker debate. Although I'd probably have just voted to line up and shoot them both if you were only counting Season 1 of TFA. xD

i thought it was going to suck like a molten slag enema but i eventually watched an episode, liked prowl and ratchet and was hooked right up to the final moment of season 3 and sadly animated itself. So many loose ends so much i wish hasbro would have let the creators do .

I thought this show was going to suck hard too. Then I watched the first episode, and saw how ruthless Starscream was, and since then its been my favorite show. Not just my favorite Transformers series, but my favorite over all TV show EFFAR!

WHAAAT! No show will ever be better to me than Avatar:The Last Airbender....
Anyhow, I saw the first episode and hated it because I though it was supposed to be a series of the movie, or something related to G1(before I knew what G1 was, I wasn't "into" TF yet..). I also hated the style of animation at the time.
Anyhow, here SabrBlade had told me it was a great series, and coicidentally I decided one day to lookup Blackout from animated, then I decided to look up a clip of him on youtube. After seeing that I immediately thought the series was awesome, and started watching a few(random) episodes. I like it alot now.

It has so many awesome G1 references, like metroplex & Warpath. Also, no annoying Redecoes like in Armada & Energon. Sari is awesome, especially when she accidentally stabbed BB! Soundwave & Starscream clones, awesome! Omega Supreme, awesome! too bad we'll never have a toy of him.

I know where you're coming from. It took me several tries to get into Animated. I started watching the first episode, couldn't focus on anything but the art, and stopped watching. But boredom got the best of me, and one day I came back.
As usual with the Transformers series, I fell in love with the Decepticons.
Megatron, because he was just so classy (especially his voice) and dangerous. I mean, he even managed to raise hell in Season 1, where he was JUST A HEAD.
Starscream, because he was just as backstabbing as ever, and even tried a little harder this time around.
Blitzwing, because... well... Blitzwing!
Lugnut, because of his fanatical devotion to Megatron. Even though I'm obsessed with Starscream, loyalty was kinda a refreshing change (I love G1 Cyclonus for the same reason).
And Blackarachnia had girl power, and I love that.
Once I fell in love with my villains, I managed to fall in love with the rest of the show. By the end, I wasn't even thinking about the art anymore.
But I'm pretty sure I can narrow the reason why Season 1 wasn't as good as the rest down to two words: Human villains.

Its a good show from the start, but it takes a while for it to become really good. I would say season 1 has some good stuff (Lockdown, anyone?) but it only grow the beard in season 2 and 3.
