The Perks of being able to do reviews...and LSOTW Talk

So I apologize to many of you, who really detest my reviews, style or lack there of.

I enjoy getting and reading TF books, and have read pretty much every TF comic out there, and still buy them.

I feel quite privileged that I get to read and review an advanced copy and make some vague statements about its quality and content to you all, and hope that you come back to talk about them more in our online community.

It's so hard to keep my mouth closed now that I have read LSOTW #5. I have to say, when you guys see the 5- pg preview, you are going to flip, but that's just a taste of what you are in for with the WHOLE issue.

Seriously, I just read this on my lunch half an hour and was very moved by the actions, and ramifications for the end of the series. Moved in a way that no TF fiction, minus my own made up play as a child, has ever done. Not even the movie's death of Prime compared to this.

While I knew the series had to come to an end, I am sad it is done, and hope that with the pieces that are left, we get more stories and creativity like this, and from this.

A dark series using a lot of unknown characters, and some favorites, wrapping up a few strings here and there, and still creating a few to leave dangling from itself. Well done Mr. Roche, and crew. I can't wait to hear everyone's thoughts as you all read the final issue, and reflect on the series. I know this series is pretty close to what a lot of TF readers have wanted for a very long time.

If you're reading Wreckers I commend you and want to talk with you about it. If you aren't reading Wreckers... well why aren't you?

I don't hate your reviews either.

...I freely admit I've disagreed with your tastes in some places :> , but your reviews are still plenty informative and do a good job of giving an overview of what to expect from the issue without being too spoilery.

As for Wreckers, I think so far it's the best thing IDW's put out, and one of the very few instances I've seen of proper scifi storytelling being brought to play in TF fiction, not to mention one of the best instances of character-building. I only wish they could find a writer who could give us anywhere near the same writing quality in the ongoing and other minis.

We'll have to see what the last issue holds of course, as TF minis have a bit of a habit of misstepping at the ending. But if they can pull it off...

I don't hate your reviews, I just hate the guys that make most of the comics you review.

Damn you McCarthy :BOOM:

Jeysie, you are going to enjoy this issue.

In fact, I think all of you will, if you have enjoyed the previous ones.

I wasn't trying to throw a pitty party. I do what I can with the time I can, and of course, without totally spoiling the book for you.

I just had to reread #5. I would imagine it's out next week or the week after, but it is quite fearsome in how much it addresses things that you guys have said.

Unfortunately based on the interview I am doing with Andy Schmidt it seems like it will be the exception and not the rule.

When is #5 coming out BTW? Man, knowing that you've already read it just makes me want it more  .

I do like your reviews though. You never spoil too much and you usually write about the same things I was thinking about. Really helpful in deciding what to buy and whatnot.

Man, this is the best series ever (not saying much since I only started reading TF comics since Nov). Nick and James know how to do it right. Since reading this series I've honestly become completely sick of the crap going on in the ongoing. I will most likely be skipping most comics unless I see those guys at the helm. Dang them for spoiling me so

Also, I need to get me LSoTW banner, to properly flaunt my love of this series. Preferably one with Rotorstorm <3

I do hope it comes out nearer to the start of the month than the end of it.

I'm not surprised... it's pretty obvious that the folks at IDW dismiss it as being just the "hardcore fan book we only like because it's fanwanky", and don't realize that the low sales are likely to due to lack of marketing to casual fans (and the distribution problems that kept cropping up) than anything. Meanwhile, they'd rather do the safe same old stories with the backwards exposition order. *sigh*

I have a couple on my deviantART account you're welcome to steal. :D

Yeah, they aren't even sold in my area. So I have to wait until they bunch them together in those volume books. Least I know my Chapters will get that. And I can assure you that I will purchase that at all costs.

Also ty for the banners. I shall be stealing one shortly  *Edit* Got myself an awesome banner now...but not as awesome as Rotorstorm obviously ;)

Where abouts are you Sabrigami? I find that hard to believe that they aren't available to you, unless you are living somewhere really small. That said you mentioned Chapters (and not Coles) so I assume you can't be that out there.

I'm in Kitchener Ontario. So yes, they probably were sold somewhere, but without a car and all comic shops being downtown or not close to me it kinda means the same thing to me. The only Coles we had moved a year ago, and everything else is kinda crappy to get to (I'm not made of bus tickets). I have other things to do during my day >.<

It's not all that strange. I live in a city with ~150,000 people, and there still aren't any readily accessible comic shops in the area that sell new comics. :/

I end up having to buy through IDW's store instead, which costs a silly amount for shipping, since they don't seem to offer subscriptions on their minis anymore. (Only reason I bought Ongoing #4 and SL: Prowl at all was because it was seriously only a few bucks more than what a single issue+shipping would be.)

I'm probably not even going to bother with singles any more, as a result, unless something Wreckers-quality comes out again where it's worth buying it early so I can avoid spoilers and discuss it (and support it).

Too bad; back when they did actually have subs for all of their minis, it was the best thing ever, as not only was the shipping cost acceptable, but I often as not got my issue on Tuesday or sometimes even Monday. Now it just kinda sucks, since each issue costs twice as much with shipping and I have to wait until Friday or Monday to finally get my copy. :/

Oh, dur, almost forgot: According to Tipton's blog, LSotW #5 is coming out on the 19th.

That's more or less my opinion, too.
