I am saddened that my first topic is one under grave circumstances.

Robert O. Smith, voice actor of Cybertron Soundwave and D.J has lost his battle with pancreatic and liver cancers.

I am especially saddened by this news, as his incarnation of Soundwave (As a monotone DJ, suitably enough) was definitely a refreshing and interesting take on the character that made him not only unique, but entertaining too.

It is sad that we must report that Robert Smith, known by Transformers fans as the voice of Cybertron Soundwave, has died. Garry Chalk, (Cybertron Optimus Prime) tells us on Smith's Facebook page that he had pancreatic and liver cancer.

Robert also voiced charachters from well known anime titles, including Genma Saotome, Ranma's father in "Ranma 1/2". Robert was also a power lifter and enjoyed wrestling in his free time.

Rest in peace, Robert Smith.

I like his incarnation of Soundwave, it was probably more engaging and entertaining than the usual ones. Shame he lost the battle really, I would have liked to see him back to this franchise.

And by the looks of it, definitely a character.

Thought there was already a topic on this though. Oh well, more awareness.

:-( i like his soundwave but the effects that was added to his voice sound like it was on the radio with static in background without effects added would have been better
