the transformers armada comics from dw are they good because i was thinking of buying the volumes that idw prints

1-5 are a good introduction to the series, though if you've seen the cartoon, it's not the same. 6-7 are decent, though having artwork drawn by Pat "I Gave Man Boobs to Prime" Lee is never good. 8-11 have a good storyline, though it has the usual "Cram The New Toys" syndrome the franchise has been known to do from time to time. 12-13 are pretty much filler. 14-18 aren't very good, considering they suffer from the two deadly sins of being chocked full of Simon Furman cliches and having a rushed ending as the whole franchise dovetails into Energon.

The Armada omnibus (collecting the whole series) is out next month. At $24.99, it's a good value, as the individual trades IDW has done are $19.99 each.
