Just being nosy, but Drift is a great character in my opinion and he deserves to be featured more. What are your opinions? Also, doe anyone have any idea what Deadlock might have looked like?

\Moving this to the TF:Cartoons and Comics forum,
Though I think Drift is currently being featured enough for my tastes.

Drift: The Wolverine of Transformers!
A title previously held by:
Blaster
Grimlock
Carnivac
Nightbeat
Grimlock (again)
BW Dinobot
Yeah, in that order....
Drift is getting his fair share of attention right now. Let's see how he'll eventually sit with the fandom.

I think there are plenty of threads already discussing Drift that another isn't required.

Wasn't Deadlock just Drift in his original name? I missed Drifts' Spotlight issue, but they are/were the same guy.

I don't know that much about the character, but the Drift toy is awesome.

Is this the type of situation where a good character/toy is so popular that the market saturates itself to the point where people get tired of him?

No, this is the situation where an interesting character concept is badly executed and then showed down every ones throat while the publisher pretends it's the best loved character in the entire franchise.
Also why do we need this thread? There have been at least 4 threads about Drift in the last week asking the same damn question.
Give me one good reason I shouldn't lock this one.

Deadlock was Drift's Decepticon name, but the forces that altered his alligence also altered his body. His Autobot body was constructed for him by a mysterious third "Anti-faction."

While I can understand the love/hate for the Drift character, you gotta give Hasbro props for the Drift mold. It's not an exact representation of the character seen in the comics, but pretty damn close. My only real complaint about it is that it really doesn't look like it belongs with the rest of the classics/universe/generations figures. He's too... Japanese. Know what I mean? Too cool. Too anime.
Now, as for Drift in the COMICS... I think people should lighten up. Yeah, he gets a little too much face time now and then, but he's an original character so that's how it's gonna be. What would be the point of even creating a new character if you don't let/force the fans to get to know him? I mean, hell, we had a whole freaking movie so we could get to know Hot Rod/Rodimus... But then again, he seemed to have even less appeal than Drift, seeing as he was forced on us as a replacement for Optimus Prime, who should have never been killed to begin with.
Eventually though, we all warmed up to Hot Rod/Rodimus, even if it was grudgingly. I think the same thing will happen with Drift. Love him or hate him, he's not going anywhere. Well... maybe when IDW stops producing Transformers comics... but i doubt it.

Thank You!!!!
Oh, and I just bought the toy, ripped him out the box and teased my dogs with him. He's great! Now I have to buy another one to keep in the box...

I just got him tonight and I could not be happier with him! As great in my grubby little hands as he was in the glass case at BotCon! It isn't shocking that you just instinctively ripped him from the package and went into giddy-fangirl-mode at the expense of your dog's peace of mind!

Just that much win cannot be caged in it's plastic-prison for long!
Bring on the repaint as Blurr!

Tee hee hee! Giddy-fan-girl-mode is right!
Hey, know what I miss? That little heat sensative tag that when you pressed your finger to it it revealed wether or not the toy was an Autobot or Decepticon...

My TFCC Punch/Counterpunch has 2! First figure I have seen in some time with rub-signs!

BTW, Drift is still win! Got him yesterday and just pose him over and over again....No one pose works for long when there are so many possibilities (shoulder-kibble aside)!

When again is the first issue of the IDW's Drift series due to hit the comic stores?

With just a little research, Bob, I've been able to find that important information for you:
Expected in-store date: 9/15. That from an article a while back under Comic Book News. So, unless I've missed some kind of update since, I've got the date circled on my calender!

Hasbro should work that into a slogan or something.
"Drift - More fun than bananas!"
