The stories are not official canon, except where noted. These stories are the result of Transformers enthusiasts taking the time out of their busy days to contribute to a universe they love. Kinda reminds me a lot of Gollum out of Lord of the Rings, arguing with himself over his attitude towards the Hobbits...

I was under the impression that Counterpunch was a kind of third mode for Punch, not a different personality. He's meant to be a spy, not a schizo.

He has been portrayed as a schizo for quite a few years now. He wasn't originally, though. Not sure when it first happened; perhaps with Dreanwave's More Than Meets the Eye?

The retconned story is that he has a separate personality for his Counterpunch mode; one that allows him to better infiltrate the Decepticons (and perhaps avoid detection by mind-readers like Soundwave).

Okay. I don't know much about character background outside of 'G1', cheers for the clarity. Interested I am!
