I don't remember which cartoon but I know Galvastron and sweeps were in it.They claim that all the decepticons were destroyed and he and his sweeps were more superior to them.How did all the decepticons become extinct? I saw the old movie where Unicron torn up the coneheads but I don't recall seeing them all being wiped out by him. Did the autobots finish the job?

You must be remembering the dialog wrong, the Decepticons were never wiped out, though they did have their forces severely reduced in season 3. Maybe you mean five faces of darkness, where Cyclonus, Scourge and the Sweeps recover Galvatron and tell him that the Decepticons are in bad shape, and that they could serve as his elite guard while the other 'con's would act as cannon fodder?

Conquest Cybertron (check my sig) [/shameless plug] explains how they were all wiped out. But that never happened in the G1 toon. Galvatron in FFoD went to a deserted Charr wondering where eveeryone was (they left with the Quints), but they were never extinct.
