Wow, I was more entertained looking at the background filler characters and working out who they were than the story. I see Minerva, Ramhorn, Overkill (?), Huffer, Hot Shot and red Tracks in the first panel alone. I won't be getting the set but if I can pick up the comic I know I will be more into the filler characters than the rest. Btw, awesome job seeing Dark Crumplezone and Ransack in animated style too.

Does anybody see the Motormaster in the first panel?

This would be possibly proof of the Botcon troop builder set of Autorooper/Autotroopers from Ironhide/Ratchet mold.
Good catch on a a lot of those.

As of yet nobody has commented on the botcon exclusive Sandstorm in the corner, in case you don’t see him he’s right on the panel with the close-up of Cheetor, right near the furthest to the right of his three horns, also whose the bulky black and yellow bot near Cromia?

I love the fact that his spots are superficial! Very clever to have Pipes spill paint on him! Loving this comic! Will the comic in the club mag be animated as well or will we still in the Elite Guard story?

Adding to the list we see one of my favorites Grandus. And page two has that awesome Depth Charge we saw in designs from DWyatt earlier.

Hmmm... Could Crumplezone and Ransack actually be Autobots? Look at they're eye colour and it kind of looks like there's an autobot symbol on Crumplezone in vehicle mode.

You’re forgetting Sandstorm Sabrblade! And to quote myself :

How can you tell who that is? He looks too weird to be Sandstorm.

Botcon has updated their
Twitpic feed with the character model for
Animated Crumplezone, and yes, he and
Ransack are Autobots in the Animated universe. Both appeared in yesterday's
TFCC Comic Preview "Moving Violations", which featured
Animated TransTech Cheetor.

He bears about as much resemblance to G1 Drilldasher as he does to Convention Sandtorm so I would definitely have to vote that one 'Inconclusive'.

You can tell this guy wasn't designed by Derrick Wyatt.

It seems to be a little sloppy, I guess, for one of Derrick's designs. It's not bad (though using the less-common Dark Crumplezone scheme was an odd choice), but the lines aren't as clean or nice as most of Derek's other designs have been.

Well according to artist, DJW drew the lines, but the artist inked and colured the sketch.

Aren't they all? I assumed the reason Animated uses this 'style' was so little kids with no artistic talent at all could almost accurately draw their favorite characters. I can't think of any other reason why choose such a poor scrappy graphical aesthetic unless the animators themselves lack the skill to do any better too.

Yeah, that's
totally the reason.
