Flint Dille, the man responsible for much of Sunbow Productions' G1 Transformers cartoon continuity, recently spoke to Sledgehammer Productions about his time on the series and the 1986 animated movie. He reflects on the death of Optimus Prime, the origin of the Transformers ("Five Faces of Darkness"), and the abandoned "Secret of Cybertron" movie concept. Click here to read the full interview.

Flint Dille was born to write. His father was the publisher of the original “Buck Rogers” comic strip and he’s followed in the his footsteps as an acclaimed writer of both animation and video games. During the eighties, Flint served as both a writer and Story Editor on a little known series called “Transformers”, including the mini-series, “Five Faces of Darkness” that revealed the origin of the Transformers. So what was it like working on one of the greatest cartoons of all time? What were the politics of writing such a show?

That was a pretty interesting article. It's cool to find out about the beginnings of Transformers. I never did like this though: "Was it always planned to turn Megatron into Galvatron? Yes. My memory is that Megatron was always going to become Galvatron. Remember, Hasbro sells toys." Megatron has always been cooler than Galvatron.

Very little information of any note unfortunately. In response to most questions it seems like Flint either wasn't there or doesn't remember.

Very interesting read, was hoping for more but still worth it. Why doesnt hasbro bring this guy back onto the payroll? Maybe for the inevitable reboot or i guess i this point it will be a re-re-re-re-re-re-re-reboot. Heres an idea, get Dille and the guys who wrote WFC to work on the next cartoon &/or movies.

"Flint Dille, the man responsible for much of Sunbow Productions' G1 Transformers cartoon continuity"

So in other words he would clock in and then promptly take a lunch break to go and watch movies the rest of the day...

Maybe it's me but every time I hear or read Flint Dille he comes off as an ass. I'm surprised he didn't mention his favorite story about the kid who locked himself in his room after Optimus Prime died.
