There isn't a sphere of fire, but, in the G1 episode "Revenge of Bruticus", the Combaticons use the space bridge to move Earth closer to its sun.

Did the ball of fire shoot out from the sun towards Earth? Cuz I don't think there's been an episode that had that happen in it.

The G1 episode "Changing gears" had the Deceptcion drain energy from the sun, causing to go unstable, but it was fixed when the draining was shut off.

The G1 2-part episode "Megatron's Master Plan" had the Autobots almost fly into the sun and burn up to death (keyword being "almost")

The G1 3-parter "The Rebirth" had the Sun about to go nova and explode (it ultimately didn't, though).

An entire story arc in the Energon cartoon focused around Alpha Q's Energon Sun, but it was nowhere in the vicinity of Earth.
