Which of the comics are the best to start with but also a good read? I want to atleast read one series but there's a lot out there so does anyone have suggestions?

That's...really hard to answer without knowing your tastes?

My favorites have to be Dreamwave's War Within, and there are a few IDW series I think are really excellent: Reign of Starscream, Stormbringer, Last Stand of the Wreckers (though this last you might not fully get unless you've followed AHM), and Megatron Origin are quite good, but each for a different reason.

I'd avoid Nefarious, Sector Seven, and Infestation like rabies.

HK, opinionated! >:[

Is the Furman IDW run any good? (Infiltration and so on.)
Also have you read the original Marvel run? If so is it worth it?
As far as taste goes I will read anything really.
Thanks for the reply.

I'll admit to not being Furman's greatest fan--Spotlight Arcee kills me for the genderfail (lolcrazy wimminfolks) and Nefarious should NEVER have happened. That being said, yeah, the -tions are really worth a read!

I have a bunch of the original Marvels and they're good for, well, their era. You know, post-Alan Moore, a lot of comics changed, and the kind of stories they tried to tell altered drastically. Marvel is very pre-Moore. IDW and Dreamwave are post-Moore, if that makes any sense?

HK plus the colorizing in the Marvels is kind of eye hurty.

The Marvel stuff is VERY worth to read. Although issues ~20-40 are a bit weird, the second half of the series has the best TF stories ever written.

By the Dinobots do you mean Maximum Dinobots? Sorry, the comics are not my strong suit.

I like The War Within and All Hail Megatron. Not too impressed with the Marvel comics, though.

Personally, I'm really enjoying the current run of IDW comics. All Hail Megatron and Last Stand of the Wreckers were both fantastic. If you're going to start reading them, you might want to consider bookmarking this page on the tfwiki: http://tfwiki.net/wiki/IDW_timeline . It's really helpful in terms of keeping track of the comic continuity, which can sometimes be a little confusing. If I'm not mistaken, Wikipedia has a suggested reading order for the IDW comics, as well.

This. And also the G1 Marvel Unicron Saga in trade paperback (Primal Scream, Matrix Quest, All Fall Down, and End Of The Road).
